Looking into Pittsburgh nursing schools

Hi! I am almost done with pre req's for nursing school, was going to only apply at CCAC, but I have decided to apply at Shadyside as well. Any other thoughts on nursing schools in Pittsburgh? I wanna hear it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. :)

So you did your RN to BSN at the school and not online? What were the classes like, were there a lot of papers? Did you do clinicals and if so what did that entail? What is the school nurse class? I didn't see that listed in the courses? What is CSN- thank you for any insights! I am super nervous and I hope I am making a good choice. I am a little thrown by this entry level portfolio that is somehow worth 12 credits, due by the first day of class, and requires a 235 dollar upfront fee? it seems weird. Did you have to do that also?

I am a school nurse. I was thinking this question was in the school nurse forum, that's why I mentioned it. CSN is Certified School Nurse. The portfolio was great because they gave you so many credits for it. I did not do any online classes. Did them all in a classroom. I did not have to do any clinical because I had a lot of experience and was able to write papers about my experiences in lieu of clinicals. Like I said, I had been a nurse for nearly 20 years. It was mostly writing papers, which was no big deal for me. I would rather write a paper than take an exam any day. The APA foremat was a bit tricky, but I figured it out. I do want to add that I went there 12years ago so I'm not sure how much has changed.

Well, thank you so much for sharing! Any insights are very much appreciated! I was accepted for January 2018. The entry level portfolio syllabus looks overwhelming at first glance! I will give it my best shot! :)
