  1. Yikes! I have worked in the walk-in clinic for 4 years now. The first two years I got sick maybe 3 times and we didn't wear masks at all then. In October 2020, I got strep for the first time in my life and I have had it 8 times since then. I just tested positive again this evening ( which is what brought me to this search!) So from May to December 2022, I had covid 7 times! I was out of the walk-in for 4 months January 2021- May 2021 and did not get sick once. We are required to wear masks and I also wear goggles whenever doing strep swabs. At the end of December 2022, I started always wearing an N95 and goggles and washing my hands with actual soap and water religiously, and up until today I haven't had strep again. However, I let my guard down on Monday and sat by a coworker, and took my mask down several times without thinking. Turns out her husband and daughter were both sick. I can honestly say that I have mainly picked up strep from my coworkers. They don't wear masks at the nurse's station and everyone is constantly passing strep around. UUUGHHH! I just can't stand it anymore, especially because the last few times I was on multiple antibiotics that did not work until finally, I got 1 gm of Rocephin 3 days in a row. I do think as long as I am more careful and keep that mask on and stay away from my coworkers as much as I can it will be okay. However, as much as I love the walk-in if that doesn't work I am seriously considering moving on. ( Sorry so long! just ranting!)
  2. I just saw that you make 1000-1800 a month! Is that correct?
  3. Uggghhhhhhhhhhhh! I am currently enrolled in an RN- BSN program. I am taking Nursing Research and EBP and the group projects are driving me insane. It is absolutely the bane of my existence and I feel as though I can t possibly make it through this class. In researching RN to BSN programs I heard of several that did not require group projects. I am so frustrated by the whole ordeal that I am quitting my current program after this class and transferring to another program with NO group projects. Why in the world would anyone think that it is a good idea to excessively require group projects in on online classroom setting. We are all working full time and working different shifts. Majority of participants aren't even clear on basic instructions. How is it fair to be graded on someone else's work? We cant sit down and discuss all of the aspects of out project as you can in a classic classroom setting. It's truly devastating to me to think I may have just wasted so much money for nothing. My only hope is that my completed classes will transfer. Its really not the same as working in groups in a real life setting, its not even close. for good communication a group must come together and discuss all aspects of a project before, during and after. Its almost impossible in our non-user friendly discussion group and I honestly just can not understand why this is allowed. Its just truly bizarre and all of the group projects I have completed in a traditional classroom could never have prepared me for the nightmare that is online nursing projects! ~ PS please pray for me!

  5. Well, thank you so much for sharing! Any insights are very much appreciated! I was accepted for January 2018. The entry level portfolio syllabus looks overwhelming at first glance! I will give it my best shot! :)

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your experience, some people can act like turkeys! Whewww who would want that position anyway? At least you found out upfront the type of people you may be working with! I am more than positive that you WILL find another position as a nurse somewhere. Good job putting your family first, as a career can not compare to the worth of the loving sacrifice you made for your loved one! Good luck and I hope you find a great job that you love! :)
  7. So you did your RN to BSN at the school and not online? What were the classes like, were there a lot of papers? Did you do clinicals and if so what did that entail? What is the school nurse class? I didn't see that listed in the courses? What is CSN- thank you for any insights! I am super nervous and I hope I am making a good choice. I am a little thrown by this entry level portfolio that is somehow worth 12 credits, due by the first day of class, and requires a 235 dollar upfront fee? it seems weird. Did you have to do that also?
  8. Peacockblue, Did you complete your online RN to BSN through Cal-U? If so I would greatly appreciate your insight into the program. Anything and everything you have to say would be awesome! I am applying for the Jan 2018 start term and I am feeling quite nervous as there are virtually no reviews to be found.
  9. I am applying to cal-u for the spring semester. Can anyone please provide some of their experience feed back? I really can not find any actual reviews about their online RN to BSN program. In my search, I have however discovered that they do not have very good food available at their campus, and it is located with in a small town so the students are forced to party for entertainment. LOL not very helpful. Please respond! I would looooooooooove to hear from anyone!
  10. Hi! I have applied for Cal-U's RN to BSN program for the January start date. I haven't been able to find any tangible reviews on this program so far. Did anyone start the program? What was is it like? What are the instructors, course requirements etc. like? Do you like it so far? Would you recommend?
  11. *"we only got BPs or temps when they were acutely ill, were taking a BP med.." the residents are getting BP meds with out heart rate/BPs.... I am sorry but I am just not comfortable with this. The nurse told me she personally takes BP meds an only checks her own BP when she isn't feeling well..... okay but many of the residents simply can not communicate that kind of information. I have done clinical in several nursing homes as a student and they all had vital signs taken before medications were given per nursing home policy. In addition skin assessments only done once a week with showers! Is that normal for a nursing home setting also?
  12. I was wondering if anyone has some advice that they can give me. I was offered a position as a charge nurse in a small nursing home facility. I will be one of only two RN's working in this nursing home on the floor. LPNs will be working alongside of us doing the same job that we are doing. I went to observe one day at the nursing home to see if it would be a good fit. I asked a lot of questions of the nurse I was with and here are some of my main concerns; vital signs are only done once a week assessments are only done once or twice a week and the CNAs seemed upset/ unfriendly and not happy at all. I really want to work in a nursing home and this position has the hours and is the size that I want to work in. However i am worried and here is my other concern they are offering a 5000 dollar sign on bonus. That sounds great however y such a high offer. I do not know a lot about nursing homes but I do know that in most homes vital signs and assessments are done on a regular daily basis. Can someone please give me advice on whether or not I may be walking into an nightmare/unsafe practice
