  1. Here, it seems. A quick search shows 202 full-time nursing jobs posted from one system and 489 in the other major system. Everything: inpatient, outpatient, home care, LTC, LPN, MSN only... everything. They both hire ADN's.
  2. I'm sorry! I didn't get a notification that you'd commented. I can't find anything, either. I have enrolled for Fall 2017, though... have you?
  3. I'll be starting the online RN-BSN program with CalU in the Fall. I'd like to hear from anyone who has been or is currently enrolled in this program, to get your opinions, advice, etc. Thank you!
  4. 5-15 minutes, depending upon the time of day/traffic. I'm a lucky duck!
  5. Exactly! I've gotten pretty good at this, myself, and it is so much more effective than yelling or stooping to their level.
  6. 1. Maximum capacity - 130-ish beds 2. nursing ratio? - 20:1 Days and Evenings, 30:1 Nights 3. CNA ratio? - about 10:1 Days and Evenings, don't know night ratio. 4. able to provide quality nursing care? - Not for every patient, no, but we're better than some. 5. computer charting? - Yes 6. mandated overtime? - No 7. How long in the LTC setting? - 6 months, first RN job 8. able to keep residents safe? - Not as safe as we'd like to be, especially with preventing falls. 9. mixture of residents? - Rehab/SNF and LTC 10. wage? underpaid? - $26/hr PRN. I don't feel underpaid, but the LPN's in my facility are paid considerably less to do the same work, so they feel underpaid. 11. state? - PA
  7. I graduated in December and I though ATI was great, although that seems to put me in the minority here. I liked the paper review books and used them to "preview" topics before I started the assigned reading in the textbooks. I found that gave me a decent overview and helped prepare me for lecture. I also used the ATI books to review just before exams. When I took the NCLEX in February, I thought it was extremely similar to the ATI proctored exams, and I believe haven taken so many of them was beneficial.
  8. I agree with Irish on the Ultrascope. I have a Littman Classic II SE and a Maxiscope by Ultrascope. The Maxiscope is only $45-$50 on amazon.com and it is much better than the Littman... I can hear more sounds with it, even through clothing and ::ahem:: extra tissue. The only drawback is that it's a bit heavier.
  9. Yes, you wear whatever you want for class.
  10. There are items listed on the bookstore website (for Boyce) that are not on the book list we were given at registration: HESI Case Studies ($68.95) and ATI ($209.75 and backordered). The Lippincott package is also different: the booklist we were given lists ISBN 9781469842851 and the online bookstore lists ISBN 9781469850139. It's all the same except for one item; the Assessment Video Series (9781608310951) is replaced by Nursing Health Assessment Online (9781451118827).
  11. I'm starting fast track at Boyce, too. The only changes I've heard about are from the letter they emailed: the grading scale and admission requirements.
  12. Does anyone know how the Summer semester works for the fast track program at Boyce? I know we're going to have classes in the Summer, but I'm curious about whether that means we follow the college schedule for Summer I and Summer II, or both, or neither...
  13. The same thing happened to me. I downloaded and printed all of the forms the day I registered for CP and didn't realize the form had been updated until it was rejected. This, after I'd already made 5 trips to my PCP's office. They were very kind about filling it out and having it ready for me to pick up, but still... it was a pain having to make another trip. Considering the number of messages I've received from CP reminding me to take the drug test that I am not permitted to take yet, I think they could have notified us all that the form had been updated.
