looking for petitioner/sponsor in new york

Hi, i'm an RN from the Philippines and currently processing my CGFNS Certification, CVS, and Visa Screen applications. i intend to work in New York because I heard it's under the Vermont Service Center which processes visas the fastest. I have been searching the net for potential employers - hospitals or nursing agencies that would be willing to hire/sponsor/petition foreign nurses, specifically from the Philippines, but couldn't seem to find one. I would be very appreciative of any info.:) Thank you so much!

You need to be much more specific about what specialty that you wish to work in, what type of facility. Remember that you have the right to be selective, not someone telling you where you need to work. What type of experience do you currently have?

Hi Suzanne. I have 4 to 6 years experience (3 and 1/2 years in the same facility) in medical-surgical ward and I have had a certification training in hemodialysis, and has an ongoing training in hemodialysis in another facility. So I wish to seek a position in med-surg or hemodialysis. I hope you can give me some names of facilities in NY willing to petition foreign RNs. Thank you so much!!:)

Have you completed any of your exams, such as NCLEX or the English? It says that you are processing your applications, but have you actually taken the CGFNS exam and passed? If you have please let me know, and I will send you a list of facilities to check out. But many want proof that you have passed your exams before they will begin any process for you.

I called my nursing school today and they said they have NEVER received any Transcript Validation Authorization Form from CGFNS. This is going to delay the issuance of my ATT now. Contact CGFNS as soon as possible. NY requires that the documents be sent for the CVS by request of CGFNS. Even though you submitted them earlier for your CGFNS exam, they cannot be used. Have you also sent in the application for the Visa Screen Certificate yet? If not, I would do that right away.

I received my Green card how ever, now my sponsor, the placement agency is asking me to submit my passport and all original documents until the contract is over. The sponsor borne my legal fees and visa fees. However all other expenses I took myself. If I am not giving my passport, and choose not to work for them, what consequences I have to face from the employer. Whether my sponsor can cancel my GC or deport me ? Breach of contract is a civil suit or a crime ?

Any comments appreciated!

That's illegal. Don't give it to them. But you should work with your employer or buy your contract. Other than these, I don't know. Good Luck!

The passport belongs to you, but you have a debt due to them for not beginning or completing your contract. There should be something written in the contract about what fees that you will incur if you do not meet the requirements of the contract.

Is there some reason that made you change your mind for working for them?

But remember that the fees will probably be quite steep. Usually in the area of around $25,000 US for breaking your contract..................

Let this be a warning to all of you, thing very hard and carefully before signing any legal documents and actually have a lawyer look it over for you, because once it is signed, it is a legal document and you are bound by all of the laws covering it.

Currently with retrogression you are going to find it hard to find hospitals petitioning foreign nurses although they are about just not as many at the moment as current processing times are looking at over 5 years. Better for her to gain some experience whilst waiting

Thank you for your advice. She is currently working as a staff nurse at the emergency department for about 4 months now. I was wondering if there are a few agencies that I could contact and speak about regarding her status and if there is any way they could sponsor her not now but however long it takes for them to sponsor her. Do have any agency in mind? if you do, I would greatly appreciate it if you can give me one. Thanks.
