Hello Everyone!

I am about to start my Masters Program in Nurse Education, our first assignment is to interview a Nurse in our Specialty with their MSN. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to volunteer? If so please private message me so we can set something up. I can either email you questions, or we could chat on messenger or AIM or Facebook. Thank you!

Hi... I have my MSN/NNP. Although I am just now starting to practice as an NNP, since I graduated recently. If I can help you out, send me a PM.

Steve,

I've seen you've posted many times here on allnurses and I would like some advice on how, as a new grad in August, to land a position in a level III NICU. I went to school in Georgia, but I am willing to relocate anywhere and when I say anywhere, I mean it!

Thanks so much.

Hi Ladyj,

I know your question is directed at Steve, but I wanted to address it a little bit if you do not mind.

I graduated a new grad in 2008 and went straight into a Level III/IV NICU. I've heard from people who have worked at multiple hospitals that many Level III NICUs prefer you to get prior experience on a Med Surg floor. I'm sure that is not what you want to hear. I certainly did not want to hear that.

I found that teaching hospital seem to be more open to hiring new grads. The first hospital I worked in did (obviously) and it was a teaching hospital. I also would check into looking at hospitals in the midwest and southwest.

I just moved across the country to a level III in the southwest that is in dire need of NICU nurses. Not only did they offer me a nice sign on bonus and relocation stipend, but they are now paying for me to go to graduate school and earn my Masters (including books and school related supplies). I think that would be a very good option for you as well. If you would like to discuss it into further detail with me via PM I would gladly give you more information. I just do not care to post publicly where I work etc.

Best of luck and hang it there.

Takingcare,

I don't think that I can PM right now, as I have not posted enough messages yet, but I don't mind giving you my email. It is [email protected]. I would love to get more information about the place that you work for, it sounds amazing and very rare in today's present climate. I am completing my practicum at a level III NICU with 168 hours and I hope that this gives me an edge in obtaining a job. I also want to get NRP before I graduate but there is a lack of offered classes here, so I am not sure if I will be able to get it.

Thanks so much in advance, this site is extremely helpful and I am going to upgrade my membership right now so I can PM people in the future!!

Also, you can pm me if you want, I just found out that I need to have 15 posts before I can send messages, so I will get busy! Sorry about any inconvenience.

No inconvenience at all. I think getting NRP and STABLE certified is a good plan of action.
