looking for lpn school in chicago

I'm new to the forum I'm currently a student at one of the City College is it in Chicago I have been trying to get into an R in program for quite some time now so I thought it would be best to go into a LPN program and work my way from there through my school financial aid office I was told that my financial aid is the place so I'm looking for a school where they will loan and see if they can do anything to help with my furniture a picture I am in Chicago I am Mobile however I am NOT looking to travel very far if you all could help I would greatly appreciate it thank you

I understand your frustration. I spent too long of a time attempting to get into my junior college's program with no luck. I was tired of being a CNA so I started researching Chicagoland LPN programs. I will be starting my second semester at ATS institute. All my teachers have been wonderful and seemed very passionate about teaching which I appreciated. The school is expensive but they do have financial aide. The school is new, so they are still ironing out the kinks but overall, I'm comfortable with my decision to go to this school. IF THERE IS ANYONE WHO IS ATTENDING OR PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED ATS CHICAGO, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF YOU COULD ANSWER SOME OF MY QUESTIONS AND SHARE ANY OTHER INFO THAT YOU FEEL WOULD BE ESSENTIAL!!!

1. Day vs. evening classes - - is the length of the program longer depending on which class schedule you choose?

2. Do classes usually end at the scheduled time? (I work overnights at my job and I was considering taking the evening class, so I was curious if I would be getting out at 10:00pm or a little earlier? Once I figure this out I will know if I need to consider changing my work schedule.)

3. How is the program in general, as far as teachers, tests, assignments, etc.?

4. Do you feel ATS prepared you for the NCLEX-PN exam? What is their pass rate like?

5. Does ATS hold a graduation ceremony? If so, where at?

6. Any other info you think I should know as I am heavily considering this program. Thanks in advance!!

I can answer some questions based on when I was considering them some years back. The program is 12 or 16 months,depending on: your (Accuplacer) exam,and your transfer credits for A&P 1/2 (both at the same school) with a B average,Psychology,Eng Comp,and College Algebra. If you do well on the placement but no pre reqs complete you fall into the 16 month program dont matter if you are days or eve. There is also a PSB entrance exam that consists of science,and nursing situations,...My cousin attends the evening session and will graduate in the fall,most of the time she gets out at the same time through out the week,sometimes earlier. So far for 2013 out of 81 students 56 passed so their passing rate is 69%. They received a warning because it needs to be a 75% or better. ATS 1st class was in 2011 so alot of bumps and unorganization along the way,but hopefully it gets better. In the beginning they offered a $5000 tuition discount,that is no longer available and tuition is high since its been approved for financial aid. Books(up to 1000),Uniforms and background check/immunization fees are not included in the tuition,most have to pay out of pocket..
