Looking for a list - distance ADN, self paced schools

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I'm trying to put together a list of schools that offer distance learning for an ADN. In addition, the school will need to offer it in a self paced format. I'll need to continue working full time and need a school that will allow me to take six credits per semester. I know that Deaconess, for example, offers an on-line ADN (they call it an ASN) but it looks like it's structured so that the classes taken each semester are predetermined. Any ideas out there?

An alternative would be someplace that would allow me to use credits from my BS toward a BSN.

The only self-paced nursing program that I am aware of on the ASN level is Excelsior College. Although, I seem to remember something about a program in Indiana? Maybe somebody can clarify this.

There are a couple of options here....Excelsior is ASN or AASN, self-paced distance learning. You must be an LPN/LVN or Paramedic, military corpsman, or a few other exceptions.....to enroll with them.

Another is Indiana State University, which is a BSN online program with local precepterships...you must be an LPN as well...I think.

Being an Excelsior grad, that is who I would recommend if you qualify....

Hope that helps......

Ned the Red,

Here is a link to the Del Mar Program:

From what I have heard it is for Texans only, a module format, self paced, and affordable program.

There are a handful of threads here about this program...here is one:

Hope this is helpful!
