Hi and welcome to the site
Have you applied to NY board of nursing for application for license and to sit and pass NCLEX. Much more luck if you have passed NCLEX already. To be honest retrogression is on at the moment and very hard to find hospitals to petition you as they are waiting for things to move forward with retrogression. Also NY is very hard to find a hospital willing to petition. Would suggest a good read on this forum

And unless you actually attended nursing school in the US, you are going to find it almost impossible to get a hospital to petition you there. It just is not happening in NY for hospitals. We are only seeing nursing homes or some agencies doing it. And then there has been the issue of the agency not having work for the nurse.
No way that I woudl advise NY for any foreign nurse at this time, and have not done so for more than 18 months.
And would not even start looking for an employer until you have passed the NCLEX exam. With CGFNS only, you are only going to get a nursing home. To get licensed in NY, you are going to need to go thru the CVS process thru CGFNS, and that will take about 8 months or so on average to get done. They are unable to use any of the documents that you had submitted for the CGFNS exam. NY has very strict requirements.
As Anna suggested, you need to spend sometime reading here. Much for you to be aware of.
Hai Anna,
thanks for your reply. I have not yet applied for RNCLEx, How to apply for that? I would prefer Newyork. without an agent we can apply for CVS and Visa screen? is any seperate application required for license in Newyork?
Please reply

I would suggest looking at the threads and again read what Suzanne has written. NY will probably be very had to find a job and wouldn't recommend going to a nursing home where you are more putting at risk your licence. For NY you need to follow the link for report to NY on the CGFNS website http://www.cgfns.org/ and you will also I believe need to fill in an applicationf form on the NY bon website and follow their instructions. Would suggest a search on here as I am sure there are already threads which answer your questions
You actually do not need an agent for anything having to do with licensure. You can complete all of it on your own. And always recommend that the required exams be done before you even contact an employer. Without the NCLEX-RN written and passed, it will be hard to find a hospital to petition you, they are want that completed first.

Hi Suzanne4,
Pls do you know any agencies or hospitals still willing to start the process of petitioning for a foreign born RN already here in the United States even though retrogression is still in place. I've already passed the NCLEX-RN exam and I already have a visa screen certificate. I'm willing to work in most parts of the U.S.
Thanks.

If you haven't used it already you should have/are applying for OPT which will help but I am sure that a lot of hospitals are waiting for retrogression resolving or waiting to see what happens with retrogression before they will petition anyone for GC. Would suggest doing a search/read on here as plenty to say about it or with others who have similar circumstances. You really need to decide on where you want to live as you will need to apply for and pass NCLEX as probably hospitals will not want to know about you unless you have passed it
Just my opinion
I have already passed NCLEX and have my visa screen.
Thanks for your reply.
