U.S.A. New York

 Hello Everyone,

First of all, thank you :nurse: to view my post.

I am currectly enrolled in BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE (BMCC) and I finished most liberal art and sience courses with 3.75 gpa:wink2:

But, it seems very hard to get into cause they only allow 70 students per semester from all over nyc.(day section and another 35 for evening)) Also, it will take another two years to finish it with full time. I live in NYC (Brooklyn)

I dont want to spend long time in BMCC. Because it takes so long,:nono: i would prefer to get into another short 2 years or 4 years accelerated nursing programs?

So, What I would like to ask you is that you guys know any other 2 or 4 years college which affordable:twocents: and preparing me to :typing the RN exam very well?

Thank you very much for all of your time in courtesy.:yeah:

I think that you should apply to the program. Remember that your acceptance is based on the overall average of the other students applying to the program. Your grades are not bad. I'd worry if 80 day students are applying with 4.0 GPA, which I doubt. You'll never know until you try. I you already applied for the Spring 09 entrance, just pray to God, that you'll get that phone call from the nursing office, congratulating you on your acceptance.

LIU - if you want to go take loads on student loans will take you in a heart beat. Not only that, did you see their requirements.

Hunter - you have to do do equally well on their entrance exam.

I already applied to program as u mention.Just waiting the phone call or at least a sit for who is not going to show up!

LIU

you talking about these requirements?

  1. Maintaining a minimum 2.5 cumulative average
  2. Maintaining a minimum 2.5 Nursing cumulative average
  3. Earning a grade of C+ or better in each Nursing course
  4. Repeating no more than one Nursing course
  5. Earning a B or better in any repeated Nursing course
  6. Fulfilling all clinical clearance requirements prior to the beginning of each clinical Nursing course
  7. Attending a mandatory hospital-orientation program each semester
  8. Demonstrating competency in drug-dosage calculation during specified semesters
  9. Demonstrating competency in the clinical laboratory courses
  10. Passing both lecture and clinical portions of courses with a laboratory section
  11. Participating in the Community Service Project (for a total 100 hours)

I am also considering to get my master degree in nursing for future so i am also thinking to apply 4 years colleges.

there are few colleges in nyc as you aware and liu is easy to get in and hard to stay in my mind.

:typingCould you correct my mistake if any but, if I graduate after LIU and find a job in any area. are there any companies or hospitals will forgive my loan?

My point is rather then wait in BMCC or other Cuny colleges which very hard to get in without 4 gpa for a long time. just focus to study in LIU or ect.. and after graduate let the hospitals pay your loan or pay back from your own pocket:twocents:. In my view point, I guess studing 4 years in these colleges much better rather then wait ( i mean wait not into program) to get into these schools (cuny or even hunter)

i have heard a lot of bad things about prof.green who teachs nur 112. One of my friends got accepted with 3.77 gpa in spring 07 after 7 people did not show up and she told me that 16 out of 35 could not pass! Because they didn`t study hard or prof.green issue.:uhoh3:

This is a shocker!

Is that number exam failure, or overall class failure!!! um!!!

1st exam, is a killer, because students don't know what to expect from nursing style questions. That's why fundamentals get be a shocker. But NUR 112 is truly the least of your problems. Wait until one gets to MedSurg.

If you want to go to LIU that your choice!!! When I wrote about the requirements, HIS 1, HIS 2, philosophy 1 and 2, 4 english courses, etc...But if you already have several liberal arts courses, great! Take them at BMCC, will save lots of $$$.

It's good to apply to different schools, just in case you don't get acceptance into a program.

my friend was saying overall class failure. that means they started 35 people and finished less then 20!!

I see that you both have attending or is still attending BMCC. Do you mind e mailing me? I was accepted into BMCC to take my preclinicals for the spring semester and I would love some feedback from current/past students. I would PM you, but I haven't posted enough.
