Give it your all, and you'll be fine. Our group finished the 3rd semester in early May of this year. Yes, it was the hardest semester to date; but it was doable.
In our 3rd semester, we had oncology, maternal and newborn health (aka OBGYN), nursing mental health, and advanced medical surgical nursing (this was the hardest of the classes); we also had corresponding clinicals for each of those subjects. What classes will you be taking in your 3rd semester?
I just started 3rd semester (we only had 2 weeks between 2nd and 3rd and will have 3 weeks before 3rd and 4th).
I have Med surg 2, mental health nursing, and patho in 10 weeks and Life span psych for 6 weeks. This is our 3rd week in, so about 7 weeks left for 3 of them, and 3 weeks left for Life Span.
For what it's worth, the recent graduating class said that 3rd is the toughest since a short semester and our first semester with 2 nursing classes. I cannot even begin to explain the dread I've had about this semester since the start of my first.
I don't disagree that it's tough (we've already had 1 test last week; a test today, a test tomorrow and Friday; next week 2 tests and a check off). I get there anywhere from 6:30 and 7:45 and leave anywhere from between 3:30 and 10:00. It's overwhelming for sure, but the 3rd week in, I've adjusted to my new schedule. And even though it's tough, I still spent way too much time worrying about it. It helps knowing that I'm not alone in it. It's comforting to know that many, if not most, probably feel the same. I know that's how it is in my program, and somehow that helps get me through. I hated being there last night until 10, but when I realized that I wasn't the only one, it seemed to make it better.
I say, relax while you can. Your 3rd semester may be tough, but you adjust. You may be surprised to find out that it's not as bad as you're anticipating!

I have been out of school for about 3 weeks now and I am so looking forward to starting my 3rd semester this coming August. I am scared to death because everyone says its the hardest semester but I will keep working hard and stay positive. I have planned my whole summer of practicing my nursing skills, math, and reading ahead to get ready for 3rd semester.
