I'm moving to the Melbourne, FL area in February- looking for a day shift ICU position, 6 yrs experience.

Hoping someone can recommend which hospitals have the best ICUs? To me, the most important part of any job is the people you work with- so I'm hoping someone out there can recommend an ICU with a good work environment, where people get along and help eachother. And good management is also pretty important to me. I'd like a good variety of patients (not looking to specialize) and I also prefer high acuity patients- I like to be busy, can't stand being bored!

I only travel there once a year, but I hear many good things about the Wuesthoff facility in Rockledge(between Melbourne and Cocoa). You could possibly try there. Best of luck to you and let me know where you have landed, as I may want to do some PRN work in that area in the future. :D

Hey- I took the day shift position at Rockledge's ICU. I'm on general orientation this week and will start on the floor next week. I'm excited! Let me know if you move here :)

Eventually, I'd like to move to the same area. I have sister who lives in the Satellite Beach area and I'd like to live near her since we are very close. I also work in ICU. How do you like the hospital you work in now? I also hear there is a trauma hospital nearby. I especially love working with trauma patients. What is the pay like for ICU nurses in that area. I have 7 years of experience.

How do you like Wuesthoff at Rockledge? I have a job interview there the first week of May on the 4th floor. All of my expereince lies in the ICU, but I know as a new grad (university of KY) that I'll have to work my way up. Do you have any info or advice for me?

Hi everyone! I realize this post is older but I'm hoping to get it going again :) I am planning to move to Melbourne in September with my boyfriend who got hired with Brevard Anesthesia. I also have family in the area. I'm currently in Gainesville and am a new RN fresh out of school. I've been working in the ICUs at Shands as a tech for 3 years and would love to continue in critical care. My issue is, it has seemed nearly impossible to get my foot in the door somewhere in Melbourne. Health First told me that they aren't hiring new grads at all now until the fall sometime, and now I can't get them to tell me much more. I applied online and contacted recruiters at Rockledge too, but haven't heard anything yet. We have tried to pull out any possible "ins" or resources with zero luck. Anyone have any advice or anything helpful? I'd really appreciate it :)
