Looking for advice on a respiratory therapy distance learning program

Published

I am wanting to go to school to get my AAS in RT. I am considering CCHS (California College of Health Sciences) and am wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on this college. I think it is also known as Independence University.

Any advice on this school or any other recommended schools would be greatly appreciated. I definitely need something where I can do my bookwork through a distance learning program and then hook up with a hospital in my area for clinicals.

Thanks!

hey i was actually on this site looking for a post about the same exact thing. i am about to start the program as well and wanted to get some feedback on it. i am a little apprehensive about doing the distance learning for a health care field. if you have started this program or have found out any information that i may find helpful please let me know. i plan to seek out a clinical site on monday, were you successful with this?? thanks alot

I know this is an old post, BUT I am currently enrolled in CCHS/IU as a prerequisite Respiratory Therapy student and I was just formally accepted into the ASRT program and my clinical site has been all set-up! I couldn't be more excited! My dream is to work in the healthcare field and since I could not quit my full-time day job, I am doing the distance RT program. I would like to EVENTUALLY become a CRNA so this job will allow me the flexibility to work on my RN and BSN so that I can some day enjoy my RT and RN skills as a CRNA.

I know this is a nursing site, but there's no RT or Allied Health forum that is as cool as this site so here I post! I am a future RN anyway as I am concurrently taking pre-requisites for nursing (general Ed stuff) so that when I am done with RT school, I can jump right in and apply to nursing school. I think I'll be going to school for the next 10 years :)... or more?:banghead:

HEY! How is going for you guys? I am having so much trouble deciding to go for RT or RN myself! I have done most of the prereq's for both, but now I have to decide. I wouldn't mind doing both (yes we are crazy) however, I don't which one to do first. The RN at my school offers the evening/weekend program which is ideal for me so I can still stay home with baby. The clinicals for the RT are done in the day, and its an hour and half drive for me, so it would be an all day thing-ARGHH> We can't afford daycare, and have no other options for that.

Well good luck, I REALLY curious as to how it is going! I agree RT's need a cool site like this!!!
