As far as I know, you receive the exact same degree as any other school and the NLNAC is only a voluntary accreditation committee that wouldn't affect licensure in any other state. In my research, no advanced degree programs require NLNAC accreditation. You have a degree from a regionally accredited program (the most recognized academic accreditation which is the kind all major universities and colleges have), a license and board certification. Like I said, as far as I have researched, NLNAC is more like endorsement by the nursing association and is not any type of requirement for licensure or advanced degree requirements. You may want to do your own research though, just to be on the safe side :)

I didn't take it yet. My husband was enrolled for this semester, but he got activated by the Navy Reserves and has to put school on hold for now. I plan on taking it in another year or so. If/when either of us takes the class, I'll be sure to post my thoughts!

FYI This school is relatively inexpensive (like around $300 per course even for out of state although not including the cost of books as opposed to almost $1,000 out of state for some of the others) NO proctored exams, NO purchase of microscope,etc. They only have the A&P classes online though (and some chemistry and biology) not microbiology http://www.clovis.edu/

I did a lot of research on this school and it is not true. You do receive an associate's degree, but your generals are taken through East Los Angeles College (or any community college). http://www.ladhs.org/wps/portal/CollegeOfNursing :typing

I know this is an old post, BUT I am currently enrolled in CCHS/IU as a prerequisite Respiratory Therapy student and I was just formally accepted into the ASRT program and my clinical site has been all set-up! I couldn't be more excited! My dream is to work in the healthcare field and since I could not quit my full-time day job, I am doing the distance RT program. I would like to EVENTUALLY become a CRNA so this job will allow me the flexibility to work on my RN and BSN so that I can some day enjoy my RT and RN skills as a CRNA. I know this is a nursing site, but there's no RT or Allied Health forum that is as cool as this site so here I post! I am a future RN anyway as I am concurrently taking pre-requisites for nursing (general Ed stuff) so that when I am done with RT school, I can jump right in and apply to nursing school. I think I'll be going to school for the next 10 years :)... or more?

Sounds like a GREAT opportunity. I am many years away from CRNA school, but I do plan to become a CRNA eventually. I am keeping my eye on this program. By the time I'm ready to apply, hopefully there will be a reputation whether good/bad which can help influence my decision on where to apply. Based on what I've researched, the tuition is relatively comparable to some other programs, although there are many that are less expensive. Keep in mind the fee quoted is EVERYTHING, travel, books, everything. Looks like an awesome program and I'd like to keep the thread going with updated information along with people's experiences!

Great! That is good to know. I will definitely apply once I'm done with my pre-requisites. Is it hard to get into? From what I understand, it's point system so good grades are key. Do you have to get A's in everything, or is a 3.0 good enough? How competitive is it?

I just talked to someone who had to have one in the past and they also said it was something that their employer offered. I guess I won't worry about it until/if it becomes a requirement in my job search. Thanks everyone!

I can see that nobody has posted however I have the same question. I am thinking about applying once I have my pre-requisites completed however I have not heard one thing, good or bad, about this program! Any feedback? anyone?

OK, so maybe the "CERT" training and the "fire card" are all the same? I am thinking maybe I should call the fire department and ask, but I just don't want to sound stupid! I guess once I go through the CERT training, I can ask the question there since it's taught by LA County Fire Dept. and then post here in the forum. My first training day is one month from now....

Does anyone know what this fire card is? I am noticing a lot of job postings that state "fire card" issued by LA county fire dept as a requirement along with other standards like CPR card etc. I can't seem find out what this elusive fire card is! Also, has anyone been CERT certified by the local fire department? I just signed up and I was wondering if anyone else has been through this training? Does this look good on a resume and/or college application? (that's not why I signed up, trying to be a good samaritan!)

I don't know if this is feasible for you or not, but Santa Barbara City College has a hybrid online Medical Microbiology course http://online.sbcc.edu/index.php?page=courses They meet twice per week in the evenings for lab time. It is the only one I have found in Southern California.
