You sound just like me. I too graduated Aug. 2011 and passed my NCLEX Oct. 2011. I was able to find an on-call job in Jan. at LTC but they also hired three on-call LPN's at the same time and the censes kept going down...long story short I haven't worked since March. I've been putting out my resumes, but for the most part there isn't much out there right now.
Have you tired twicking your resume? Or maybe some networking with some of your old classmates to find out where they are working now and if they are able to help you find a job? I'm waiting to hear back fro a couple of places right now. One of which one of my old clssmates are working out.
Good luck...and hang in there! I know that the job market is really sucky right now. Also, I've heard of RN's who graduated last year and still have yet to find a job. Also, when I used to work at the hospital as a CNA my CNA co-worker who had gotten her RN...took her forever to finally find a job. She would tell me how she would put out like 75 resumes and still nothing...until one day finally her luck all changed.
Once again, keep your head up, keep looking. We are both bound to find something.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I've twerked my resume and I've made sure to send cover letters with all applications. I've also gone and applied in person and have made follow-up calls to facilities but I always seem to get the voicemail machine from HR and no calls back yet..It's just been a little disheartening to not have anything going on yet. I'm going to continue to try to apply in person to as many places as possible and I was also thinking about taking an LTC Certification course to help boost my resume.. Anyone know if it's worth it? (costs about $395 for the course + registration not including books)

I graduated from my LPN program in August of 2011, passed my NCLEX in October 2011. I haven't been able to find a job since (I've been in and out of state for personal reasons but have been constantly sending my resume out to different LTC facilities-mostly online because I was out of state and planning on returning). I've been working part time at a marketing research company since I was in my LPN program. One of my co-workers there said she used to work HR and that the longer you're out of work or out of school, the less your chances are of getting a job in that field. This really makes me nervous, on top of the anxiety and frustration I feel in not having an LPN job yet. Is this true?
