Um I actually picked up a brochure not too long ago at a public library as it's cover read...Important things all psychiatrists should know about Lymes disease.....something like that.......I work in the psych ER.........It was stuff I either forgot or done't remember learning.........but many of the later stuff is stuff we see in psych..........I don't remember the specifics but I would look for on a psych med as well as medical med site online......I do remember reading it though and thinking......oh wow I should know this stuff as a psych nurse!!!!

What I know about it I know from one of my friends in high school,
She had been bitten and diagnosed when she was in 7th grade (she was home schooled and her mom combined 7th and 8th)
Junior year of highschool she started feeling fatigued, sore, and sick all the time. No real specific symptoms, just a general feeling of unwell. I remember one morning she and I sat on the floor of the bathroom together because she could not move, but did not want me to leave her alone to go get the nurse.
It took 3 or 4 months but it was found out that she had a relapse of lyme, and was put on a 2 year course of different types of anitbiotics, probiotics and all sorts of stuff.
I have no idea how she is doing now because we do not talk any more but she was feeling better after a couple of months on the antibitocs.
Found this and it goes into the psych findings more then many of the others....
What are the Symptoms of Lyme Disease?

I work with a nurse who's sister was diagnosed with rapid progression Parkinson's at a very young age (50's). She could not sit still long enough to get a hair cut and could barely walk. After several years of suffering she tried a coorifice of doxy and after just a few weeks she had a complete remission of symptoms.
We have many, many people in this area with lymes disease. There symptoms range from things very similar to fibromyalgia, parkinsons, arthritis, MS, Alzheimers, menningitis, menopause - anything that could make a person miserable.
There is controversary over the types of test the local medical monopoly is doing to test for lyme's. Many people feel that it has a very high false negative rate. Many people here have started seeing a lyme's literate MD and driving 13 hours each way for an appt. with him.
Some of the sickest people I have taken care of - I mean knock down, drag out, puking, pooping, passing out sick - have been from tick born illnesses including lymes disease.
thank you all for your replies. i don't deal with tick diease to much and i am so happy to be educated on it. i want to be able to understand my patient. i will check out that link !!

this may interest you as well, i know at some point in the past, Yankee ran an article about it was suspected that it was a governmental screw up that caused this disease to begin with....but i think it was prior to these articles..
