Anyone applying? Does anyone know if there is a traditional program for kingwood?
I don't think it is. I think at orientation she said it shouldn't be no more than $700 if I remember correctly.
What?! LOL. You forgot to put the smiley face, wink, etc.
I don't remember them ever saying a cost but I was in the afternoon orientation...was that really said? No more than $700?!!!!
Has anyone who will be going to cyfair started the process of completing everything yet??? I have only turned in my intent to enrol form... :-(
Don't worry, I am in the same state as you. I have all of my shot records done (from previous CNA course), but that is it. I am going to get started around the first for Nov, still have two pending applications sitting out there.
For stethoscopes - the standard is Littmann, they offer a wide variety of styles and prices. I used one back in the day when I worked as a paramedic and it served me well. I wouldn't spend the 100+ on the best models, the mid-range will easily allow you to hear for a BP or listen for lung sounds.
The major recommendation that I have for budget models, is that if you buy a two tube model, make sure you tape them together or they are already incased into a single tube. There is nothing more annoying than have the tubes bump (you hear it) or getting something between the tubes and tangling.

Oh you were the afternoon, so the Quest program? The book cost could totally be different for y'all. I'm in the Basic Track program so we probably require more books.
Yes, I am in Quest. There are 5 books in the package, plus 2 not combined in the package, and then the lab kit. I do vaguely remember them saying that most of these books would be used the entire program and also that the more books that are packaged the cheaper they become.
I was thinking that the books would be similar but I don't know how the basic track program is structured so maybe it is different. I'm sure they are still going to be costly...I was thinking $300-400 but I should prepare myself for $700 and feel lucky if it is lower than that.
sapadgett...Here is a run-down of Quest, is it similar to the basic track?
Program is 14 months long - Spring 2013-Spring 2014 (runs straight thru with no breaks)
Completion of 4 modules - the learning is online with weekly labs and clinicals (144 hours per semester)
The program is integrated, start from less complex material and work into more complex
That is really about it. I know that the learning is oncampus rather than online for basic track, but what about the rest?

Ours is 4 semesters with summers off. Start Jan 13 and graduate Dec 14. It looks like there are 5 books in the package (plus 2 access codes I believe) and 2 extra books. Plus a lab kit from the bookstore. I'm thinking maybe we require the same books? If so, I could have swore someone asked about the cost of the books and she replied that she didn't know the cost for sure, but she could tell us that it shouldn't be more than $700. So I'm going to plan on the $700 and be happy if it's cheaper. Lol I'm pretty sure ours goes from less complex to more complex as well.
Also- Yes, I do remember her saying that these books would be used throughout the program and that we would only need to buy a few more for like the last 2 semesters or something. Not many more at all.

I am doing the same with the uniforms & stethoscope. Right now all I'm worried about is getting my packet complete (which is costly in itself between the CPR, doctor visits, blue card etc lol) Also got to have the book kit by mid Dec when the week long class starts, right?? So much to keep up with!
