Hey everyone. I know it's quite a bit early, but I wanted to see if there were any Fall 2016 hopefuls out there for Lonestar. Please feel free to discuss, ask questions, or talk about any relevant or pertinent information here. I look forward to speaking with you all.
hey i was wondering ...do u think it is beneficial that you have been an LVN first ? Have u had much time as an LVN ? What are your thoughts on this
Personally, Yes and No. Yes because you gain nursing experience. No because when you go through the ADN program you have no break in learning so you remember the things you have learned better. This may be different for each LVN but for me I graduated from Practical/Vocational Nursing in 2009. I worked my first two years in a large private family practice and then moved to Texas and worked in Pediatrics. I worked for UTMB Alvin Peds clinic, a multi-specialty clinic(I worked in Peds) owned by Tomball Regional and now a private peds clinic in Montgomery. My advice to anyone going into the LVN program, I would say set yourself up so you can transition immediately into the ADN program, If being an RN is your goal. I don't have any regrets but when I graduated financially I couldn't afford to not work for another year to do the transition program to get my ADN. I hope that helps with any questions or concerns you have.
