Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Am not a lonestar hopeful but I have something to say about the finger printing. When u do your fingerprint, it goes to DPS, then FBI before TBON gets it. When TBON gets it and u are cleared then they send u the blue card. When I did mine it took me a month and three days before I got my blue card in the mail. The blue card is a small blue card like a post card. You must be careful when checking your mail box. I recommend u make a copy for yourself before submitting it.

Yes. Make a front and back copy.

Yea in the email they said make a copy and bring the copy and original to orientation.

I did my fingerprints on april 9th and I called the BON on monday to see about the status and they said yes they can see when I did my fingerprinting and its 15 days from that day that the recieve your background check. so for the april 10th comment you should be receiving a card in the next week or two!

Do you guys recommend taking pharmacology over the summer ?

Yes! It's a lot of information to process and with the first semester of nursing and learning what to expect, I would take it long before

I think my only option is online over the summer

I also was thinking about taking pharmacology but someone told me its better to take it during nursing school because they make you take some pharm test to test out of. Any suggestions?
