Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
So I'm a little nervous bc when I turned in my application I didn't have my hep b shot I asked my doctor but since I had all 3 as a child she said I don't need them now as an adult I wonder if that's true? Also the advisor told me not to send my background check until after I was accepted
I applied with two classes missing their in progress but I know I probably won't get in I just wanted to see the application process and I think I'm OK bc I think they would have sent me an email saying something about my shot
You only have to have proof of 1 of your hep b shots when you turn in your app. The series has to be completed by a certain date once accepted. I myself as a alternate had to get the fast track series.
yazi28,
Here is what I know about Hep B. I went straight to the dept. head of nursing at Tomball. I had an old titer lab report showing I was immune. She said that was fine, and I included it with my paper application. Also, CVS pharmacy told me once immune always immune, and any school should accept my documentation. They said it could be harmful to get additional shots, if you already have immunity. If you included proof of first shot or titer (showing immunity) with your paper application, you should be fine.
