I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!
Tlcarter99- that's great you made it into north Harris! I am so exited for the program to start, do u know if there is already a Facebook page for north Harris admits? I made one called NH 2012 nursing admits, If you'd like to connect there. Also on your problem option 3 sounds like it defiantly Works best for you, I probly wouldn't go with option 3, micro is a pretty difficult class to add so much stress. King wood is where I took it, and I know you said the times weren't good but the professor is good there. Hopefully you decide on something that works!
Tlcarter...I vote option 3. I don't think it's worth the stress of #1 and I KNOW it wouldn't be worth the stress of #2 in my book. I guess #3 is pushing it to the last minute, but you'd just HAVE to complete it, much like you HAVE to complete your specific nursing courses every semester. The only way I might go for #1 would be if the professor had an awesome rating. I made the mistake of signing up under a teacher who ended up being rated TERRIBLY, and I paid for it big time, whereas other people I know who had great teachers breezed through it with better grades they spent half the time earning. :-/
gmarks,
I say get the classes out of the way! After summer 1, I will only lack chem. I will be BSN core complete (for UTHSC and TexasTech) when I finish chem. (hopefully that will be next summer) and I plan on transitioning from the ADN to a BSN program as soon as possible. I will also be able to get a job and work while I am studying for a BSN which is good because I will be gaining job experience. Good luck
TxDiscoDiva,
Did you get a final grade in the Micro class you did not finish? I know of a student who was in a similar position and was put on contract. He received and IP on his transcript and was put on contract, which meant that when he was able and ready to take the final he had to contact the assistant dean to arrange for the exam. He did not have to take the entire course all over again, he only had to complete the final. Does your transcript have an IP for that course?
I am so not ready for my stats final on Wed. I logged on to the computer to study notes for the final and I ended up catching up with you FUTURE NURSES. Hope everyone does well on their final exams this week, if you are taking classes this semester. I am also really not wanting to start a mini mester next Monday, but I know it will be for the better in the end. I do not know which was more difficult, waiting for the acceptance letters or waiting for orientation, lol next it will probably be waiting to start the program blaaahhhhh

I'm having a dilemma and would like opinions.
I need to take Micro, but the schedules for Summer 2012 do not work with my work schedule. I’m trying to stay employed as long as possible before starting the program in the Fall. I can obviously take it in Summer 2013, as it is not needed until Fall 2013. I’m just worried about the what-ifs. Is that too late to get it done? What if something happens where I can’t complete Micro in the summer, then what?
Option 1
Tomball and Cy-Fair seem to be the only campuses that I could MAKE work, but with major sacrifices. By that I mean, I’d have to rush to the campuses after work and hope for zero accidents along the way AND it is M, T, W & TH. Secondly, the class doesn’t end until 10:15 p.m. so with an hour drive home, wouldn’t be getting home until just before midnight.
Option 2
There is a Saturday class in Fall 2012 that I can take. However, this is pretty much an all-day class and I am worried it would interfere with my study time for Nursing.
Option 3
Take Micro in the Summer 2013, where I can focus 100% on it and have the remainder of the time to study and enjoy my kids.
Thoughts?
