Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

I have read on other blogs that it takes 2-3 weeks for the blue cards to come in. I go do my fingerprints tomorrow! Everything is falling into place. :) The only thing I am having trouble with is my childhood shot record. :/

If you cannot get your shot record, do the titers. There is a place called AnyLabNow that does them quickly. Google search it to find one near you

I know we keep talking about all the stuff that we have to finish before school starts, but I'm so ready for orientation. I want the list of books, and all items that I will need.

I've got my fingerprinting on Tuesday, and I'm going to the May 17th orientation. I need to renew my CPR and get a physical, but everything else is on hand or planned for already.

Is anyone taking Pharmacology for the summer semester?

Specializes in neonatal, oncology.

Done with fingerprinting, now on to cpr....@megablack im takin pharm this summer. Are you?

I am currently taking pharm and I do not think it is a difficult class. I think my lowest grade is an 88

Nice! Yes, I am taking Pharm this summer, the TTh class at NH(the new health science building). Would post the instructor's name but I believe it is against the rules of the forum.

Specializes in neonatal, oncology.

Its the same instructor. I think shes the only one. Lol yea im taking her tth as well....i think....lol

I attended a CPR class this morning to get recertified. I felt so bad at the end of the class because one of the other students did not pass the test. It made me feel so bad to hear the instructor tell her she would need to study and take a different version of the test after studying or pay to take the course again at another time. I guess it can happen to anyone :-(

Oh wow I didn't think you could not pass it...i haven't taken CPR before...should I be studying something?? /:

Not really. I've done CPR classes many times before, and it's pretty straight forward. Just listen intently, and follow the instructor's points to a tee. I've seen people fail the paper portion(I found the questions exceedingly easy), and I've seen people fail the physical act of doing CPR(usually by not clearing hands of the dummy when using the AED for defibrillation). The AEDs are extremely easy to use, just dont make yourself anxious. The instructors are there to guide you, don't be afraid to ask questions. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure you listen and follow instructions!

It is gorgeous outside. Too bad I have been stuck inside studying for my dosage calculations test all weekend! Two weeks until finals. I want to take a mental break before we begin our program. I have been in school for two years straight taking a full course load every semester, plus classes during each and every mini mester. I am enrolled in the mini mester following finals and also summer session one. I am considering changing my schedule and only doing summer one
