Loma Linda University Winter 2011

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

This is my first post! I wanted to see if anyone out there is applying to Loma Linda University School of Nursing for the winter 2011 quarter?? Or if anyone has had an interview or anything like that!

Thanks

So how did it go?

So my interview went great. I actually found out my interview was scheduled tomorrow but was able to get in today. Like you all said the admissions director was really nice. She answered all my questions and was really nice and supported of my plans. I actually talked to her for an hour and a half which I knwo is over but I figured the more she knew the better. So here's what I found out. There are 120 applicants but some will be knocked out since they do not meet the pre-requisites and application requirements. They will pick 60 students and put 20 on the wait list. There is not a wait list from quarter to quarter so you just tell them to put you over to Spring if you don't get in. I am definitely taking my TEAS again since it will only help me if I do better. Hope everyone else is doing well and maybe we will be classmates.

So good to hear your interview went great:yeah:that is good news! I was wondering, for retaking the TEAS test, are you able to just retake the parts you didnt do so well on, or do you have to retake the whole thing? I am thinking about retaking it as well because the director said my science was a little lower than they like....just curious if they gave you that information or not. The 20 on the wait list, is that for if some of the 60 decline the offer and they pull from the wait list for winter? Also do you know if for some reason you dont get in for winter, but you met all qualifications, are you pretty much a shoe in for spring? I really hope we all get in for the winter quarter...that would be awesome!! :yeah::lol2::D

I think the teas has to be all parts, but I would call them and double check. The waiting list is for students who decline their spots so then another student on waiting list. I don't think your a show in but I think it's very likely since the applicant level for spring is so low since it's betwen semesters. If you or anyone else has questions about the admission process just call Heather the admissions director or meet with Dr. Hart about the program . The staff is very helpful and caring whchnis why I am only applying to LLU and not any other program. Hope all goes well it will definitely be a long wait until the end of October.

Hi Christi, I wanted to ask you, did you have a chance to retake the TEAS test? Did you do better? I am retaking mine on monday to try and boost my scores. I was told the committee will meet for the first time this month....fingers crossed! The end of October seems so far away...

I haven't re-taken the TEAS yet. I am slammed with two tests this week, so I am taking it next Thursday so I have some time to refresh. When I went in for my interview I inquired about how my TEAS score was and I was told that I passed every category which is what the committee likes to see. Taking it again definitely will not hurt me since they take the highest score anyway. The end of October does seem far away but I am staying busy with my classes. The competition is endless, since all my classmates in my science classes are almost all nursing majors. Good Luck, maybe we will be classmates and if not there's always Spring 2011.

Did they happen to tell you what scores they like to see in each category? I tried calling and emailing and I wasn't able to get a hold of anyone to ask. Just curious to see where I need to get to on the Science and English parts.

Good Luck on Thursday!! :)

I actually am going to wait until I hear to see if I get unto to winter. If nor that will give me anole time to retake and study for the teas for spring 11. You should call the admissibs director, heather and ask that question. She only told me they like to see that you pass every section and not dobhigj in one section and poor in another. Just call and you should reach someone or email them. Usually the office ladies are very knowledgable or call the admissions director. The end of October dies seem very far away, but it will be here sooner then we know it if we concentrate on other things. I am concentrating on my classes on hopes the time will go by faster.

Hope this helps,

Christi

I think I am going to do the same thing. I passed, so I will just keep my fingers crossed that I get in for winter, otherwise I will try for spring. Only a couple months difference. I was going to go today to retake it but work is way too busy, and I really didnt have that much time to refresh since I had a physics test, tons of O chem homework, and essays for English!! YIKES! Wish you best of luck in getting in for winter...let me know when you hear, and I will do the same!!!

Has anybody receivd their financial aid award letter. I was told they only process it if you have been accepted but I received mine today. I was just curious if mine was a fluke or maybe someone did it by accident or got tired of it on their desk or computer more likely.

I thought that was the process too. Maybe that is good new for you! I am not sure how that whole process works, I am still waiting for my husband's business taxes to be completed before I can give fianancial aid my signed returns. I am hoping they get done sooner than later. Maybe try calling the financial aid office and see what is going on with your stuff...I would think they would know.

I think since I applied so early Financial Aid just processed my FAFSA so I knew what I could qualify for, but since I have a degree its not much. I did call the SON and they said as of last week they hadn't met and they were suppose to meet this week. So looks like we will all hear by the end of October.
