Loma Linda University Medical Center New Grad 2011

Published

Has anyone applied for Loma Linda's new grad program? I heard its starting next month but I have no idea if they even started interviewing people. I keep calling but no one is giving me an answer.

I spoke to a nurse recruiter the other day and I was told that the units need to give HR the names of their choices by the 15th of July. If we don't get a call by the 10th - we can expect that they've gone with other choices. This could be pertaining particularly to the NICU though, I am not sure about the others.

I haven't heard anything...but I still believe their whole process is disorganized.

I just wanted to let you guys know I got a call this morning (they left a message) from Loma Linda. They didn't say in the message that they wanted me to come interview, but I assumed that's why they were calling. My first choice was Intermediate care. I actually got hired at another hospital, though, and am starting next week in Med/Onc. Too bad, I would have loved to start in Peds at Loma Linda! Just wanted to let you guys know that are still hoping for a call! Good luck!

Congrats RNwannabeLA on landing the job! That's awesome news! Best of Luck! And thanks for the update.

Congrats on the call! I am in a similar situation as you. I have since landed a position at another hospital and start later this month. I wish Loma Linda wasn't so last minute.

It makes me happy to hear about new grads getting jobs, that gives hope to the rest of us still searching! I had my interview with Loma Linda Children's today and they ask a lot of behavioral questions, like think of a situation where you had to prioritize. A lot of questions about organizational dynamics, some of which I really had to think through just to understand what they were asking. I wish I knew this before I came to the interview. I was practicing more along the lines of what makes a great nurse and what qualities I will bring to the job.

Does anyone know how many new grads they are hiring this year and how many applied?

Hi,

A few days ago I accepted a position on the Hem/Onc floor for the RN Residency!

I am relocating and am wondering if there is anyone who is looking for a roommate that is also in this residency.

Please contact me if you are!

Hi PedsRN11! I too accepted a spot in the hem/onc RN residency program! So exciting! Where are you relocating from? I already sort of live in the area and have family close by so, I don't totally plan to get a place right away, but I will prob within a few months or so. Have you heard from HR yet?

Congrats on the heme/onc positions! Did either of you have to do an HR interview? I e-mailed the nurse educator last weekend but haven't heard back yet. I'm not in the country so I have no idea if they actually called me.

I'm originally from San Diego but went to school and am currently still living in Portland, OR.

I have not heard from HR yet-- the director of the residency program said not to worry & we should hear from them around the 18th.

littleguccipiggy- I interviewed with a gal named Sarah in Peoples Services (which is basically HR) on the same day that I interviewed w/ the NRS manager & NRS educator. Hope that helps?

pedsRN11: So exciting! Well let me know if you have any questions on areas that you are looking at to get a place. Have you heard of the final number of new grads that got hired in hem/onc? I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

littleguccipiggy: I interviewed in the middle of June with nrs educator and nrs manager and was called the following week to interview in July with HR and was offered the job the next day after my HR interview.

So I just interviewed for the Intermediate ICU yesterday and met with HR, 2 unit managers, and nurse educator. I believe the interview went well, just crossing my fingers I get the job. Has anyone else interviewed for the same unit? I was told by people services that they should know by Friday who got the positions. The nurse educator told me that they'd only be hiring 3 ppl for this unit and said I should hear back from residency coordinator within a week if hired. I hate playing the waiting game
