Hey! I was accepted as well, did you pay your deposit? I think that the email was only to be sent to those who had reserved their spot. If you did and still didn't receive an email, you should try to email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME), I believe he was the one who is organizing the scheduling/ meetings.

Hey Guys,
Due to the restrictions of this website to share certain information, I have created a facebook group for those who reserved the spot into the program to be able to communicate and help each other with questions or issues that might arise like the one above. Below is the link for it. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Congrats to those who were selected for admission! Do you guys mind sharing your stats? such as GPA, leadership qualities, etc..anything that you think helped you stand out?
Also, I noticed they asked for a letter of rec from a clergy/spiritual advisor...for those who are not members of a church, who did you get this letter of rec from?
Many thanks for considering my request.

Hey!
My overall GPA was 3.6 with a 3.8 science GPA
I have 3 years of nursing experience (1 year of ED and 2 years of level 1 NTICU experience. ) Never charged or even resourced. I did CRRT but not super regularly. I got my CCRN as soon as I could (after about a year of ICU) and then I pretty much just started applying.
I was involved in my hospitals UBC (unit based counsel) and would attend monthly zoom meetings and work on improvement projects for my unit. This was, overall, a very low commitment job and honestly a lot of busy work but it looks great on a resume.
On paper, I think I probably looked like everyone else, with years of experience probably being my biggest downfall.
A few things that I think helped me were my interests, I tried to portray myself as an individual with many hobbies outside of work as well as talk about them in the interview as much as I could. Things like volunteer work and athletic achievements even, I pretty much listed anything that I had ever done in my life that I was proud of. I think it made me look more well rounded and balanced. The admissions committee is considering well over a hundred (maybe even two hundred) applications and I would bet that pretty much all of them have a decent GPA, a few years in the ICU as well as their CCRN, so I really tried to emphasize other things in my essays, resume, and interview.
A big thing that I tried to emphasize was the fact that I have around 70 hours of shadow experience. Though this is difficult to obtain and is totally not necessary to gain admission to a school, I think it helped a lot in my case because I was able to make the point that I understood the day to day of the job and that I knew exactly what I was getting into. I also kept a log of the OR cases I shadowed, the type of anesthesia and airway used, and the length of the case. I brought this log to my interview. (again, totally not necessary, but I was just really trying to go the extra mile).
as for the clergy/ spiritual advisor question- I used to belong to a church, but do not currently. I do have a very close friend I used to volunteer with who does mission work through his church regularly though, and he was generous enough to write me a letter.
Hope this answers some of your questions! The application process is nerve racking but if its what you want to do, you'll find a way! best of luck to ya!

Nursing GPA: 3.85
Science GPA: 4.0
Cumulative GPA: 3.3 (prior degree)
Total nursing experience: 3yrs; 1.5yrs ICU by matriculation at a large, Level 1 metropolitan hospital. Previous work experience as an anesthesia technician.
Hospital-wide committee involvement.
Decade of volunteer experience.
Ultimately, what I feel allowed me to separate myself in the interview was being able to tie all of my answers back to how each particular experience has prepared me for this career. Having a lock-solid "why CRNA". And at the end of the day — a bit of luck. Don't give up. Keep knocking on doors. Cast a wide net and don't limit yourself to your top school. If it's meant to be, nothing can stop it.
Hi all!
I wanted to open up a dialogue and see where everyone's heads are at. I applied to and was offered a position in LLU's CRNA program starting in September and accepted the spot, however, I know the program is newer and I've heard mixed reviews about the program so I'm trying to keep my options open and see if I receive an acceptance anywhere else. Is anyone else in the same boat?
