No, I apologize. The word more so was blacklisted. What I mean by that is they are basically taking a financial loss if you leave before you're supposed to because it's costly to hire new grads. If you leave prior to your expected date, then it kind of looks bad in their eyes because they spent so much time, resources, and money training you that if you leave and reapply later, then it might be harder to get back in. But they will never stop you or call other hospitals to prevent you from getting a job!

Echoing DxRN1, during the HR meeting, they provide you with a piece of paper that shows what they are investing in you to train/hire you into their new grad residency. However, it is not binding and have seen first hand people leaving the hospital after they get a year of experience. The managers all understand that the pay is low and I haven't seen any ill feelings towards those that choose to leave. If you get the opportunity to do their new grad program I highly recommend even if you plan on leaving. It looks really good to have on your resume you did your residency at a Level 1 Trauma center that is also Magnet Recognized will take you far

But if you don't stay the whole 3 years, you don't earn everything in one of your retirement accounts right? That's what one of my friend is saying.
