Does anyone know if you can apply for deferment on your loans while being enrolled in excelsior? I have federal student loan and it says if you are enrolled at least part time you can apply. Has anyone successfully done that or do online schools not count? Also, do you have to be taking the courses or does it not matter? I'm doing the exam option.
Thanks!

Only taking the courses will qualify for loan deferment (and financial aid)
Challenge exams do not meet federal requirements for deferment as its not a class. You can technically register for an exam and test right away.
Ah okay I figured as much but i wanted to double check. Thanks for the feedback

I also had this question. I called the school and they told me you can get your loans deffered by doing their classes however you can also get a letter of enrollment to give to the loan holders for defferment after completing so many exams at EC but I do not remember the number of exams you had to of completed to get the letter.

Call the Financial Aid dept, they can provide you with the information and you can get an in school deferment with just taking the exams.
The rules changed relatively recently. Previously only scheduled courses (online or in person qualified). There is a way to qualify for deferment now but you need to contact FA frog. I apologize for outdated info.
