Loan repayment TN

Published

I was wondering about loan repayment in TN hospitals for registered nurses. Which hospitals will pay loans back and how much. When I look on websites they never tell how much they will pay back or how much they will give towards going to school or if there is a cap or if you have to be a new grad to get these benefits. I also hear it is a no no to ask about these benefits when you are interviewed so there is no way to ask about this information to see which hospital has the best loan repayment. I do want to to give the best care possible but I am also worried about being able to pay off my loans and make payments towards them.

I highly doubt that you will find a facility that will do loan repayment for education obtained prior to becoming an employee. There are some facilities that do tuition reimbursement for those who are already employees with an agreement to work for the employer for a set amount of time.

I have heard that certain underserved organizations/areas of the country do indeed pay off previous loans, it is by no means a common practice. Think not-for-profit/rural areas, Native American reservations. I have never heard of mainline organizations doing this.

There really should be no connection between the care that you give your patients and the status of your student loans.

I worded my post wrong, they do not have a correlation at all. What I meant was there does not seem to be a way to compare benefits at each hospital and you cannot ask during any interviews because it may make a good candidate for a position look as if they are only worried about that and not the actual job itself.

You would need to discuss with HR at each facility.

Actually, I 100% disagree with this. Knowing what benefits are available is simply part of what is considered during the job application/interview/offer/acceptance process. Heck, I had a phone interview with HR at a facility, and they emailed me a copy of their benefits information before I even progressed to the interview with the manager of the unit. I would certainly not make it the first or only question asked, but there is no other way to find that information out without asking.

Thank you!! I have not had this luck. I have always been told that it looks bad if you ask. Thank you for posting!
