The VA usually pays more than the health department. I don't know about the VA but the health department will pay up to $4000 per year of student loans.
The health department does not pay much (not sure what they pay and I don't think anyone would tell me), but there are not nights or weekends.
Part of the fees we pay for our license goes to a state program for Loan Forgiveness. It works like this, you work in a "designated facility" for a year and at the end of that year they pay off $4000.00, then the next year another $4,000 etc.
I'm not sure if West Palm area has any of the designated facilities, which are usually teaching and not-for-profit hospitals. I'm fortunate enough to be working for one and looking forward to having my loans paid off. http://www.nslfp.com/
I haven't heard of any loan forgiveness around here in St. Pete, but good luck!

I will be moving to West Palm Beach, Florida this Fall and would like to work for a hospital/clinic in the area that have either sign on bonuses or a loan repayment plan. I need to pay these loans off!
I am a Med/Surg nurse currently. I have heard the VA hospital might offer something like this. If anyone has feedback about the local hospitals and their repayment programs, any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!
