Living expenses?

Published

Hello,

I am enrolled in an LPN program and I will start classes in JAn. 06.

I was told that I need to search for money for living expenses all on my own.

I need money for child daycare, extra gas, lunches, uniforms and shoes, supplies , and whatnot for the year. We have less than perfect credit and cannot get approved through regular lending institutions. My school tuition should not be a problem, it's just the "extras" I need help with.

My husband is active duty Navy and we are living on just his income, so the budget is tight for sure.

TIA for any info. you may have.

I am a little luckier than others..not to brag, but my husband trys to pick up 2-3 days of overtime in a pay period to pay for the child care and my gas to get back and forth to shcool..(I drive 1 1/2 hrs each way to school) but unfortanatly some of my classmates arent so lucky...I would try to get as much help as possible..one student I know had to swallow her pride and get food stamps, but I think it will be worth it when she finishes shcool...she went to the finacial aid department and got student loans and talked with someone and was honest about not being able to finish shcool if she didnt get help..they led her in the right direction and she is now getting a lot of help...she did say it was a lot of paper work and it took a while before she was able to get all the help she needed..but Im glad she did it...she is getting A's and doing great in clinicals! There is help out there...you just need to go talk to people and find out what u need to do.

You might want to check with your state's Workforce Commission/Employment Service. Quite often they will provide childcare vouchers depending on your family income and other circumstances.
