LIU Accelerated

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello! I recently found out that I was accepted into LIU Brooklyn's Accelerated Nursing Program. I was hoping to find out about the program through current and former students through here if I should go there.

Also, has anyone else gotten in, as well?

Thank you!

Hey ladies,

Same exact thing just happened to me.... just got the letter that I didn't get in :/

I'm bummed, but I also think maybe it's for the best. While I was drawn to Pace (admittedly in part because it started in the fall lol), reading the other message boards about the program made it seem pretty crappy to be honest (people getting kicked out all over the place etc). I just took my Hesi exam for LIU as well (got a 92! yay! Senada, you rock with your 94!!!), and will also be attending the orientation/registration on the 22nd. I'm getting kind of nervous that school starts so soon guys!! I'm excited to hear more about LIU's program, as I really don't know much about it.

I wonder what Pace was looking for that we didn't have....their admissions process seemed so all over the place to me....but maybe I'm just feeling kind of down, cause it's sort of a sucky feeling getting rejected from anywhere.

Anyway, I'm glad to have found you guys who are in the same boat! :) Here's to LIU's next class of awesome nurses ;)

Awwww so sorry to hear that hun! Senada and I both agree that everything happens for a reason ;) I've heard the same about Pace and thats why they only seem to have such a low amount of people taking the NCLEX because I'm sure it's because they all kick out their students. Every time I mention LIU, I hear good things about it especially in terms of clinicals so I'm happy!

We're meeting orientation/registration date if you'd like to come with us! :)

Hey! I was bummed too but it's all good!! LIU here we come :) I'm pretty psyched to begin in June and I hear this is a tough program too but pretty good like Kimberly said with clinicals. And thanks about the HESI -- you did great, too!! I'm really excited to start too!! Can't wait to see what this year is going to hold for us.

Kimberly and I are going to meet in front of the Health Science Building at 9:50ish if you'd like to join us; this way we won't feel so awkward in a big group of people we won't know lol. I posted my email earlier so feel free to email! My name is Senada :)

hi, everyone! i was recently accepted for the accelerated nursing program starting this june. i just registered for the 100-levels (N190, N192, and N197-N199) today with advisement, and can't wait to start! just had a quick question for you guys, is orientation on the 22nd starting at 10am? i was told to come at 1pm, because i already registered. did they give you a schedule of events for that day? all i heard was that we're going to meet with the faculty.

do you guys want me to start a facebook group for the accelerated students? it might be a good idea, since we're going to be one cohort, and probably in the same classes for the summer, at least.

I'd love to meet you guys at the orientation! Thanks :)! I will definitely e-mail you as well!

Awesome! Yay! Congrats! How were you able to register so quickly? :)

Orientation and registration is supposed to start at 10 but I don't know which one goes first but it seems since you registered first and are telling you guys to come in at 1 then registration is at 10 for us. No schedule was sent to us, we don't even know where it is! Lol

And yesss! Make a Facebook page! :)

i think i was able to register a little earlier because i went in-person for EVERYTHING! starting from giving the app to admissions in january to registering yesterday, i've probably visited the campus 5-6x. i got to know people from nursing advisement over time by stopping by their offices, and let me tell you, they are overwhelmed with the workload. there are 3 advisors for the whole nursing school. it probably explains why they are a bit unorganized and brusque over the phone, but they are so helpful and patient if you visit in-person.

orientation is going to be on the 4th floor of the health sciences bldg. haha, i'm not really surprised they didn't send you details yet. my cousin did her master's at LIU, and she said to me "you need to be proactive in everything you do at LIU, or else you're gonna be lost in the wave of people"

i know you're not supposed to put links on this site, so type facebook.com/groups/ -- add 506434502795920 immediately after the slash, and it should be a direct link. you can also search LIU ABSN Summer 2014 Start if the link doesn't work

I can see the whole needing to be proactive. I didn't know that I didn't have my health form completed because I missed one page..I was wondering why it wasn't updating on MyLIU. So I called them and that's how I found out. I'm glad to hear they are super nice though!

I joined the group!

HEllo,

I saw this thread and I want to apply to LIU's accelerated nursing program. There's not much info on their website, any advice on how to apply? Things I need to know? How is the program going?

You should definitely consider going up to the school to get more information. They have a list of classes you must complete and then you must take the Hesi A2 exam in order to get in the program . This school is unorganized but the knowledge you learn is definitely worthwhile . I am currently in my last semester there thank god . As people say ... "easy to get in and hard to get out " . Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. I spoke with the admission rep for the nursing program yesterday. They said I just need to apply online and send in my transcripts, and you take the HESI exam once admitted. That being said: How is the program going? How is the work load? Can you work while in the program?

The program is intense but definitely manageable if you put ur mind to it . The first 2 semesters are the easiest (to me) and im sure that you are able to work part time . But everyone has a different experience because you have to adjust to the workload . But the 3rd level was way harder and there was no way I could work . I start 4th level next week and hoping I don't struggle as much .
