Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I started this page because I read posts from last cohorts from people discussing their admission process. If anyone has applied for Linfield College of Nursing's Spring 2020 application I was wondering if you would be interested in sharing your GPA, experience, etc. and we can also share when we hear back regarding acceptance! Thanks and I hope to hear back!

I applied for the spring cohort as well. I have a 4.0 for all my pre reqs and my cumulative is hard to say because I have classes from two different institution. I believe it is around 3.9. I have no experience???. This is my very first time applying for a nursing school, quite nervous! Do you guys plan on living on campus? If not how far do you guys live? And, also how do you guys plan on paying the huge cost? It is so expensive!

Do u just apply Linfield? Ur GPA is so high, you can also apply for the OHSU race!

You seem like you have a strong application! Plus, I know they really like when applicants have a previous degree which you mentioned. Linfield is my first choice as well.

I plan on living around campus somewhere in an apartment! I currently live in Olympia, WA right now so if I get accepted I would start searching for an apartment asap. The cost really scares me, I would have to depend on loans..unfortunately ?

Yes Linfield is my first choice. I like that it starts in the spring so I don’t have to wait til fall! Closer to finishing! And I like how it’s 2 years and not 3 years like OHSU

Yes I agree! Thats what I was thinking because I am done with prerequisites and waiting until fall would be way too much time out of the classroom!

My bachelor is 3.93 and my prerequisites is 3.87. I have absolutely no medical background ? .

Leo- I think that is competitive. My cumulative is not very high due to my previous degree so I am worried mostly about that.

Mindy said that they rank in order of: A&P gpa, science gpa, overall prerequisite gpa, then cumulative gpa, letters of recommendation, and healthcare experience last!

Yah. I am quite in a dilemma now. I am currently registering for retaking Microbiology( I had a B) to improve my GPA. But the admission letter will be sent out after the dropping deadline. So if I am not admitted I will reapply again for the ABSN and the fall term.

If u guys move to Portland! I think u guys will love it. I have lived in Washington( Kent and Seattle before) and Portland is the best. But living on campus is the best deal ?

It’s too bad the dropping deadline isn’t earlier. I am taking CNA this fall just in case as well and the drop date is before I will receive my letter so I’m in the same boat. If I don’t get in I will also apply for summer and fall cohorts.

I visited Portland once a year ago and from the short weekend I was there I absolutely loved it!

Mindy said they mainly care about GPA. They said that healthcare experience rarely plays a role in acceptance.
