Linfield College - Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I started this page because I read posts from last cohorts from people discussing their admission process. If anyone has applied for Linfield College of Nursing's Spring 2020 application I was wondering if you would be interested in sharing your GPA, experience, etc. and we can also share when we hear back regarding acceptance! Thanks and I hope to hear back!

Did anyone get their financial aid? If so, how much in Transfer scholarships did they give?

Hey, I spoke to financial aid who confirmed 4350 a semester, but seemed like some peoples amounts could very. So a little over 17,000. I remember seeing in the Spring 2019 allnurses page that they received around the same amount bringing the cost of the program from around 91k to 72k (give or take).

I was wondering about the gpa because the one calculated from nursingcas is much lower than my gpa from all my prereqs and undergrad classes. I had to submit my transcripts from when I went to college when I was 18 for two semesters, those grades were really bad, so it made my gpa like 3.0 or something. The admissions person told me it shouldn’t matter but we’ll see. My gpa in science classes so far is 4.0 and overall it’s 3.9 (excluding my bad 18 yr old classes), I still need to take chem 106 though. I’m wondering what the chances are for me because at the time of applying I had not taken either chemistry classes but have since completed the first one. I did have a year and a half of cna experience at the time of applying as well.

Hi there! Unfortunately I didn't learn this until it was too late, but NursingCAS (along with the PA/MD CAS programs) calculate your GPA using an average between an original class grade and the "retake" grade, which means that your grade is not replaced with the better one. My undergrad school used a grade replacement system, so I'm in the same boat with regards to my GPA coming out as much lower than I had expected.

With that being said, OHSU and Linfield are my top two choices for ABSN. My family is from the Portland area, but if I am accepted to Linfield I will likely move closer to the campus. On-campus housing (i.e. dorms) seems to be more expensive usually.
