CONGRATS everyone!

They never got back to me to let me know I wasn’t selected for an interview or anything, and I tried reaching out multiple times....

I will try again next year. How was the interview? Any tips?

The interview was very laid back. Mostly getting to know you. They will ask about your specialty. They asked me about ECMO (the Process of cannulating and the pathophysiology behind it) common drips (explaining the MOA) They went through my CV and asked about the committees I was on, the certifications I had. One of the easier ones I’ve had. I always recommend more certs. I had my CCRN, CSC, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NIH. They seemed to really like it.

About the same for me as well. Ask about IABP and Dobutamine. Grilled me on my grades from 20 + years ago, LOL.

That’s good to hear. I need to seek out more certifications... I only have CNOR, PALS, and ACLS of course. Just very disheartening that no one ever contacted me at all to say yes or no. A lot of time spent waiting.

Specializes in Trauma ICU Nurse.

I got my call yesterday! Super excited to meet you guys.

kcly20, I'm not sure why you weren't contacted. Did you try reaching out to the admission coordinator, Patsy Bolden? She was really great helping me during the application process. I just had to call/email her on different occasions to make sure she had everything she needed from me.

The interview was like the others explained, mostly personable questions with a few clinical questions about your experience. I currently work in trauma ICU, so I had clinical questions about MTP, tranexamic acid, etc. They also asked about the different vasoactive drips we commonly use and their MOA/what receptors they activate/inhibit.

My advice to best prepare for an interview with LMU is to practice common interview questions like "tell us about yourself" or "tell us about some of your weaknesses" etc. Be comfortable answering personable question on how you deal with stress, or discussing a difficult patient you cared for during your experience in the ICU. Then brush up on the medications and specialized therapies you work with in your specific practice.

CONGRATS! I had emailed back and forth initially with Patsy to confirm my application was received, and then never heard from anyone again despite attempts to reach out. Very odd.
