We have a 50 lb limit at my agency. Once they hit that point a lift is required.

I do peds home health and I'm not lifting anybody over 50lbs. I tried lifting an 80lb boy by myself and my back hurt for days. I also struggled. So for now on I get another person to help or I request a lift.

I'm 22 and need my back.

We finally got a lift for our patient who is now shy of 100 lbs. Nobody could do it any longer. Once had a patient who weighed in at 93 lbs. that both Mom and I found easier to lift ourselves than to use the available lift. I got flack from the supervisor over that.

I don't see any thing wrong with lifting a child with two person assist. I don't know why your supervisor gave you flack over that.
