I don't work there but I live in the neighborhood.
On Friday the nurses were out protesting and one of them gave me a flyer. This is what it said:
Why are Montefiore nurses protesting today?
Because we need to protect quality patient care!
The registered nurses of Monetefiore Medical Center believe that our current working conditions threaten to compromise the quality of care we deliver.
Management contineus to force us to work short-staffed.
Desperately needed RNs are being removed from clinics and other critical servieces.
Despite our nation's critical nursing shortage, Montefiore is trying to drive away experienced RNs by refusing to offer us a fair contract and subjecting negotiations to numerous delays.
Our fight is for quality health care for all.
We are advocating for our comminity's most vulnerable patients.
Recruiting and retaining RNs is the key to quality and accessible care!
Securing a fair contract is the key to recruiting and retianing RNs.
We need your support.
Call Montefiore CEO Spencer Forman at (718) 920-2001.
Tell him to stop jeopardizing our community's health!
Hello,
I don't work there but two semesters ago, I had my clinical rotation at Montefiore Medical Center on a Med/Surg floor. I would say it's a "typical" hospital setting. It's a decent place to work. Personally I don't like it there b/c it's located in the Bronx which I lived in Queens and I have to travel 2 hrs to get there.
Good luck!
hi, i worked there summer '05 as a clinical assistant (student nurse) -- it's a great hospital; you'll learn a lot. i was lucky to have been assigned on a floor with efficient preceptors and supportive nurses. i have just graduated, and i feel that the fast-paced setting of montefiore is not yet for me, so i decided to choose another hospital (smaller). once i've gained enough confidence, i will definitely apply there.

Hi there,
Anyone have any experience working at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx as an RN or LPN? Would you recommend it as a good place to work?
Any thoughts are welcome...
Thanks!
