Licensure by endorsement question

Published

So I'm in a tough spot right now and would like some help with this situation. Was not sure where to post this so if this is in the wrong spot my apologies!
I graduated from a Maryland nursing school in 2021. I was on vacation in Florida shortly after graduation and took my NCLEX in Florida. Passed boards and obtained my Maryland RN license. Shortly after that, I ended up staying in Florida longer than expected due to a family member being sick. I ended up taking an RN position at the local hospital (in FL) and never applied for a licensure by endorsement. I had no idea this was something I needed to do. I seriously thought because my license was a multi state one I didn't need to do anything else with my licensure as FL is a part of the NLC as well. I know, huge mistake and honestly ignorant on my part.
It has been a little less than 2 years and I am now moving to Washington state (husband is military), should I still apply for a licensure by endorsement for Florida? Or just keep it moving and now apply for a Washington licensure by endorsement?
(as of today Washington state is part of the NLC)

The NLC works differently for an active duty spouse.  If you maintain legal residency in MD and accompany your husband when he transfers to another NLC you can maintain, and work, on your MD license.  The NCSBN has an informational video and brochure on their website.

Best wishes with your upcoming relocation, and my thanks to your husband for his service.

ETA: The brochure link should open a PDF on the NCSBN website.  If the link doesn't work, search for "nurse licensure compact military spouse."
