Licensing via Examination for International Graduates

Published

Hi! I'm an international nursing graduate and I just passed the NCLEX RN last Dec 2014 and Ive been waiting for my License number for 6weeks as I was informed that It really take that long. However, i was recently informed that GA BON is having an issue on issuing license via examination to all international graduates of nursing education. Hence, my license was put to hold. Just wondering if any of you had the same problem with me. I really find it unfair since they were just informed about the new law this Jan 2015 and they didnt consider excempting those who passed the exam prior to this issue.

appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Is this about not issuing licenses to those who don't have SSNs?

If so that's a federal mandate that professional licenses are to only be issued to those lawfully present and eligible to work in the US AEB valid SSN. Some states implemented this years ago such as CA & AZ others more recently NJ VT MD and now GA.

Yes -- that's why I was wondering if maybe this is what tripped up OP; that GA has (finally) implemented the Federal requirement.
