I thought about posting this elsewhere, but decided to post it here because it's because of addiction/recovery that I had this experience.
This was my first time renewing my license in many a moon. The older nurses will remember the days of classes and hand held certificates that had to be kept forever, in case of audit. That's the only system I knew.
This year I was introduced to the CE Broker, which is very handy. I had a few difficulties at first but after I figured them out, I was finally able to renew last night. I had plenty of hours, but without paying the extra $30 to CE broker, I couldn't see at what stage I was missing certain CEUs like the Medication Errors, HIV, that need to be updated every 3rd renewal. Does anyone else pay this yearly fee? I thought about it briefly, when I kept turning in CEUs and it kept saying 'not complete.' Then I thought that if I just keep signing up for Medication Errors, HIV, Domestic Violence, Recognizing Nurses/Substance Abuse, etc... each renewal period, I could save that money. I know it's only $30 but it seems like a racket and I almost paid it because I was so frustrated.
While I was sleeping (Ha!) the world went and got new fangled and I'm playing catch-up!

Check with the education/orientation dept at work. Sometimes they have CEUs, including those Mandatory ones in thier bank of online stuff you can do.
