License renewal question (Other RNs in CA respond!)

U.S.A. California

I was given my license in february of this year. The next time I have to renew my license is next year. Is it true that I don't have to take a CE course (30 hours) to renew my license for the 1st time? (this will be my first time renewing). Thanks!

Your best bet is to ask your state board of nursing, and don't rely on any answer but theirs.

As mentioned better to ask BON/BRN

I will reconfirm what the others have told you. You just need to have a good read on the website for the BRN, this is explicitly listed right there.

It is always best to go right to the source for any quesions about license renewal, etc. Rules are subject to change at any time.

I would not focus on those 30 hours, you usually get more than that just with the required classes that you need the first year.

I renewed mine for the first time last year and I did not submit any CE. Check out CA Board of Registered Nursing Website (rn.ca.gov).
