Hi Everyone,
I have been reading a lot of threads about people's experiences with the NJ BON and how crazy long it takes to get a license in NJ, so I thought i'd share my success story of getting my license by endorsement in just under 4 weeks. What I learned through the whole process is that you really need to stay on top of it- Yes, if you don't call the person in charge of your application and stay on top of them they probably have a million ppl to look at. So see if you can contact one of the below ppl (pls check the NJ BON website to make sure these ppl's names are still correct) and ask them about the status of your license they are very helpful.
Licensure by Endorsement
Leslie Burgos (A-F)
Elizabeth Velez-Carter (G-N)
Ada Alejandro (O-Z)
As for the background check part- this is really out of the hands of the licensure by endorsement ppl so pls be nice to them if this takes a while. But basically what I learned happens is that if you get your finger prints done outside of NJ, the BON will send your fingerprints down to trenton to the individual who will send them to morphotrak. Once morphotrak gets them they will scan them and send them to the NJ State Police who will run a background check on you. You can check on the status of your fingerprints w. morphotrak by calling them, as well as where they are w. the NJ State Police if you call the state headquarters and go to the criminal convictions dept. Once the NJ State Police complete their scan (which they said can take 5-10 days, but mine took 2) they will send them back electronically consumer affairs in Trenton. They will then send them electronically to the NJ BON in Newark. So again, if you know that the NJ State Police has completed your background check but its not checked off for you, you can call the BON and say you know they have them.
Finally, for me everything was checked off except the part about Board/Committee approval which sat untouched for about 2 weeks. So when I finally felt like I had given them enough time to review all of my stuff (2 weeks) I just drove up to Newark. I let them know that I was there to check on my license b/c it has said board/committee approval for about 2 weeks and I just wanted to see if they still needed anything from me. The lady at the front desk pulled up my profile and w.in 10 minutes I walked out of there with my license.
Hope this is helpful and good luck to everyone!
Hi everyone! I just want to ask if you need to make an appointment before you can go personally to the NJ BON. Because I am also applying NJ license by endorsement and I am done with my fingerprinting. my checklist indicate that criminal background check is done but my notarized application, the verification (nursys) and immigration documentation are still unchecked. But I already submitted those papers. I called them and said that i just need to wait a little more but based on what I've read here, I don't think I need to wait that long. And I am planning to go there personally to somehow speed up the process.. Will someone help me..thank you!
so i applied for endorsement in april and am still waiting. they said that everything was complete on jun 10th except board approval. I figured I would give them two weeks and call and they tried the same "well call back in 10-15 business days" and another person even said "it might take 4-6 months"!! this is beyond ridiculous. i feel lost! i would say just go to BON and talk to them in person. hopefully that'll work. i haven't heard anything about making an appt.
After that voicemail my license became active today guys. You really have to push and almost harrass these people. I really believe the voicemail worked. Go to njbon, know your board, scroll down to where it sqys licensure endorsement theres three names listed depending on ur last name one of them is in charge of your endorsement.
I was polite and gave all my contact infor, all the detailsof my receipt from nursys and my checklist went frm needing licensure verification and board approval to active in the span of 1 day. My advice is call call call.. I started this process on may 21st as well (see my responses for details)
I went to BON this afternoon and told them that I just want to know the status of my license..and without any questions they checked my info in their system and after 20 mins of waiting the lady got out of a room and handed me an envelope and congratulated me that I am now an NJ Nurse and my license number is in that envelope..I just need to wait 7-10 days for my license to arrive in my mailbox..It was a relief from what the rep said to me that I have to wait 3-4 months to finish the process but now the whole process is done..having a visit to BON is really worth it! btw, i started my endorsement last june 11 :)
There is contact information on the printable license applications found here:

Or you can call the NJBoN main number
hey everyone
For nj license endorsement, do you know where I can get the NJ and FBI fingerprint cards they require? Are these cards required before I send my application packet? OR do I just send my application and wait for morphotrust to send me fingerprinting information? I tried calling NJ BON to inquire but it's all answering machine all day.
thanks

NJ will mail you the forms once your application is received and entered. It's recommended to apply online if possible. Paper applications take an extra 3-4 weeks to be scanned and entered into the system. There is no card, fingerprints are done digitally you cannot schedule an appointment with Morpho until you receive the paperwork from the BoN

Here is the link for the fingerprint form. I went to Staples and bought card stock to print it out on -- sometimes the ink rolled fingerprints do not take well on regular computer paper. Let me know if you have any other questions -- I just finished all of the info for the new student checklist.
In NJ you must go to Morpho trust for digital fingerprints if near a fingerprint center. Manual prints aren't acceptable if nearby a center, if you live too far away far away from a Morpho center, manual fingerprints can extend your wait by 4-6 weeks because they must be manually checked against records for a higher fee and takes longer to process.
The BoN wi send you what you need once your application is received and processed. You do not send fingerprints to the BoN. You pay MorphoTrust and go to one of their centers on an appointment basis. Digital cuts your wait time by weeks.

I called yesterday and asked to speak with (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES PER TOS)...at first they tried to run the same ol 10-15 business crap but i felt this was unacceptable seeing as though i did my nursys verification in may it was not fair that i wait another 2 weeks just because they didnt look at it 2 months ago when it was available! After poking and proding they let me leave (PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES PER TOS) a voicemail. I hope this works!
