Letters of Rec from professors

Published

I have been a top student in some of my classes so far and got the letter of rec when I asked for it - but before I stack them half a foot high - do these carry a lot of weight with CRNA school admissions? Since all my classes right now are prereqs to get in the nursing program (bio, anatomy etc). Should I not even bother? I did hear at Beaumont/Oakland, that they only want three letters, not a lot more, and one has to be from your manager, and I think the other two from professors etc.

Letters of recommendation for entrance into a nursing program will not be the same letters you need for admission into a CRNA program.

For CRNA school, the LORs will need to reflect your actual nursing experience and will come from a nursing supervisor (generally speaking), a nursing school professor, and either a doctor you've worked with or another RN you've worked with or a CRNA you've shadowed.

I wouldn't waste anyone's time writing you generic letters of recommendation for CRNA school at this point...you have alot of ground to cover first!

Good luck in nursing school!

agreed with above.

for my application, my three letters consisted of a 1) nurse educator that i worked with during both my externship and residency program, 2) my dean who has written me LORs for scholarships before and 3) a coworked who oriented me to the unit. i didn't bother getting my manager because honestly, my manager has no clue of my clinical abilities.

get LORs that will give the admission committee a great view on who you are.
