Hi All!
My RN license was revoked in 2013 for unprofessional conduct. I had a string of substance abuse legal issues (DUI 2010, Possession 2011, then a bunch of misdemeanors that were dismissed) and though I had been sober and in the program x1 year when they investigated me, the combo of me not understanding the process and defending my license alone, coupled with the newness of my sobriety ended with a shocking revocation.
Now, sober 4 years, way stronger for it, I'm ready to apply for a new license here in Texas. I struggle with how to explain myself, and would love to read some drafts of others letters of explanation or any advice on the topic, as this feels like uncharted territory.
I have not had any luck finding any Dallas attorneys that could help. An attorney in CA soaked me for $1000 saying she could get the revocation lifted then pulled a shrug oops move.
Thanks!!!

Hopefully someone can send you a copy of something that they wrote. In general, I have found that it's a good idea to be straight forward and own up to what you did. Don't use euphemisms. You're an addict in recovery. Talk about making poor decisions, NOT mistakes. Emphasize what you are doing today to stay sober - the BON loooves AA/NA.

Hi. I am willing to share my letter with you! If you don't mind, I would rather do so by PM?
Good luck to you, and being honesty and approaching things with humility is best.

I second what DHG said. Accountability for your actions, accepting & dealing with the consequences are key.
I don't know if this would help, but is there anybody like (clergy-person, therapist, previous co-workers/bosses) that could write a brief 'letter of reference' regarding how much you've learned & grown from this experience? Again, not sure if the TX BON would read them, but it certainly can't hurt to have such letters available.
Good luck. please let us know how things progress. :-)
Thank you SO SO SO much! Love you! Your letter is so concise! I'm over here writing a autobiography, for teens...and I'm 45....lol.
Reading yours was a big help, and after AA today, I'm gonna sit down and write something brief and concise.
You are SO amazing and generous to share that with me. Congrats on licensure, you deserve it.
I would love you to review my attempts!
Thanks Again
