I'm taking my pre-requisites to apply in the spring. I started and run a non-profit where I work very closely with my son's neurologist, so I asked her for a letter of recommendation. She is world renowned, so I want to be sure I don't take up too much of her time. She said she'd be honored to write me a recommendation, but asked where she should send it. I plan to apply to 5 schools. I looked to see if they are associated with common app, but they aren't all there. Would you ask for a generic letter and make copies??? It's been a while since I applied to any schools, so I'm not sure what the protocol is? Thanks so much!

What my professors tend to do is write a letter but just change who it's addressed to. Sometimes they'll let me change it as long as I keep them informed of which companies and programs I'm sending them out to. If they're otherwise not comfortable with me doing that, they'll send me a copy of the same letter but is addressed to who I want it to be addressed to. Let her know that you're applying to several different programs and ask how she would like to go about it.
