Out of curiousity and boredom I wrote to excelsior college to see what their guidlines (if any) were for online exam/CPNE "letter of recommendations". I'll let you know what i find out!

oh wow! thanks so much! thats a really smart idea!
I'll be darned.
Excelsior nursing advisors wrote me back already ,they will mail me a letter of recommendation related to the completion of their ADN program.
Interesting!
So, OP, I guess it doesn't hurt to ask if your college will do the same for you.

I've gotten a letter from an ISU professor but in that program you interact with your professors and classmates so the recommendation will be more personal.
So, OP, I received my letter of recommendation from the Associate Dean at EC.
It does a REALLY nice job explaining EC's program, what credits transferred from where, what I completed there, the content EC covers, including a CPNE description and it throws in a little bit of personal information: mine was "Sara successfully completed the extensive 2.5 day CPNE in which she clearly demonstrated the ability to integrate nursing knowledge, make pt centered judgements and preform the technical care required for both children and adults. The clinical examiners responsible for evaluating her competence had positive comments to make about the quality of her care." It concluded with "While learning at EC is different and flexible, the knowledge and performance skills required for graduation are equivalent to those expected in conventional nursing programs."
It will be nice to have this on hand!

Sara, how did you contact EC to request the letter? Is there a place on the website to submit the request? I'm thinking this is probably a good thing for all of us to have in our possession for any future work.
Edited to add: I found where I can submit a request for a letter of recommendation through the MyEC message center. So thanks for the description and follow-up! :)
You'll have to post an excerpt from yours too!
