I received a letter today about testing positive for a substance that I am prescribed. I am assuming that they did not have a current prescription verification form and or a current continuing need of prescription that is required quarterly. I was told that I was sent this by my physician but I failed to double check with the board and thats my fault. So now I am noncompliant with my agreement and I guess showing a positive drug screen now. Im terrified what this means. It will be several hours before I have the change to call and find out whats going on.

Depending on what the substance is I think it would be OK retroactively in my state but all states are different. Good luck
How did this turn out?

Yeah, in our program, it still has to be approved by the case manager even if it was prescribed. It depends if it's a PRN. For those, there is a good chance that if it has any potential for abuse they will not approve the medication. But if it's a required drug (I.e. adderall for ADHD) they will approve it.

Sorry, I thought I responded. It went okay. It was still noncompliance since there was a few days that my prescription verification lapsed but I should be fine as ling as I don't do it again.

Toughest part of a monitoring program is not the testing or checking in daily or absence of drugs and alcohol Those are somewhat routine and easy. The toughest part is the work required by us nurses regarding communication between our therapists and physicians and the BON. The BON wants stuff directly sent by our therapists and providers without us in the loop, but when the BON doesn't receive it, the Board quickly gets us in the loop. Really important to be aggressive in communication and follow up with your therapists, primary care providers and the BON to ensure stuff is received. I get 3 way emails and conversations going via email.
