hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!

so, tell me about you...

Specializes in Telemetry, Stepdown.

I'm Tracy and I've graduated from an ADN program this past May. I took the boards in June and passed which makes me a RN! In Sept, I will be working on a Nephrology floor at a great hospital that has a three month new grad orientation. I'm very nervous and excited at the same time. I'm glad that this thread was made because I'll be posting here a lot once I start. Congrats to everyone that has already started their jobs!!

I graduated July 8th and will be taking my boards on Aug 31st. I am starting my job on Aug 8th. I will be working PT evenings due to not wanting to leave my kids 5 days a week. ( my youngest is almost 3 and has never been to daycare other than grandma). And on the other extreme I have a 15 yr old girl. So they both will have to make a transition to me working again. I hope this will not be too bad for me as a new grad working PT. I will be starting on the Tele floor..... Very excited and nervous hence I am up at 230 am

hi to everyone.., I graduated may 2004 and passed the NCLEX April 2005.. SO glad to passed the boards..

Nurse's ROCKS!!!

there will be good days and bad ones, you'll have time where you ask yourself what you've gotten yourself into, but there are also times when you touch that one patient in a special way, or you get that thank you from a patient who really appreciated what you've done for them, and you know that what you're doing is worth all the hardship you're putting yourself though.

i took the nclex may 05, 2005 and went to work at a ltc facitlity for chronically ill and dying children on may 17. i worked a total of 147 hours last payday (16th-31st) :uhoh3: i was standing at my med-cart saturday night at 11:30 drawing up my meds, thinking i must be the only stupid nurse on this planet for working all of these ungodly hours, when someone that i take care of quite a bit on another wing came up to me in his wheelchair with his dad. he said, "dad, this is kim, she is the only nurse they have hired in quite a while who actually has a brain" i told him i would definately take that as a compliment, then he said something that almost made me cry, but swell with pride at the same time....he said, "well, i know that you really care about me" that answered the question i had just asked my self while standing there completely. i swore i would never work pediatrics when i graduated, didn't like it, but it's the first job i applied for...go figure :rotfl: maybe god has a plan for me with these kids...because i don't want to leave there.

congrats to all who have passed and are now waiting to pass.

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to have found all of you on this site. There is so much information here and everyone seems so supportive of each other.

Right now, I am paying off some bills and will return to school next summer to finish off my last prereq's before nursing school. I plan to attend University of South Florida's BSN program Fall 2006. I can't wait!

See you around!

Michelle

Hello! I love this site. I wish I had found it while I was still in school. My name is Christine and I live in Northern California. I graduated from the RN progam in May and passed boards in June. I was an LVN for 8 years and worked as a scrub in the OR during that time. I'm orienting to the circulator role now, while still staying in the scrub call rotation. I'm loving it, for the most part. It's hard feeling so unsure again... I thought it would be easier to transition, but there's so much new information to absorb. Some days I feel like I'm just not fast enough (with turnovers, etc), but I know that it will just take time.
