Nurses have complained for years in their "victim" mode which is why I say that very little has changed since I started in the early 70s. (Yes, I've got endurance!) No matter what you think about it $$$ are a big part of the solution. Here's what I propose (and I'll just get it started):
Get 1 million (at least) nurses to put up $100 each (tax write-off of course). This is $100 million.
Consider:
1. Find a location that needs a hospital. Location might be mild climate to keep costs down.
2. Make it very energy efficient.
3. Simple, but nurse and patient friendly design.
4. Pick a Board of mostly nurses that will hire the administrators.
5. Instead of letting HR drop new staff on you, use a hiring committee. I did this once and it was great.
6. Surely there are nurses out there whose spouses are administrators, financial experts, interior designers, architects, etc. that could assist with info, etc.
7. Docs should love a hospital that really focuses on happy nurses and patient care.
8. Get a local nursing nursing school to offer hospital-based classes for nursing degrees, BSN, MSN, NP, etc.
9. Set up low-rent offices in or near the hospital for MDs, NPs etc.
10. Make this hospital a model for all hospitals. Get it going and start another...and another...become a figure to be reckoned with.
Ok, next...with number 11.

sounds good. Someone else on here had already suggested that we start a hospital like this. couldn't hurt, right? But we would never ever agree on the location (sigh).
You mean I'm not first

Nooooo...and no doubt...you won't be the last either. :chuckle
I'd like to build my very own hospital too, and posted on a couple other threads just exactly how they would be built to. You might want to research the other threads about "building our own hospitals".
