Is anyone else experiencing this?
More and more, the frequent admissions where I work aren't really "medical" patients.....they are behavioral or geriatric patients who can't be admitted anywhere else really fast so they end up on our VERY BUSY floor to be "babysat."
Need I mention that we are ALREADY understaffed and certainly not capable of this?
It's enough to make you tear your hair out.
I think I'm working on the Hospital Dumping Ground unit......

What a huge liability... to the patient and to your license! Make incident reports documenting potential breach of safety issues and inadequate staffing, then present to Risk Management.

This has been going on for a long time but is happening more often.
