Hi everyone!
I just finished the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Intensive Review:Fast Facts and Practice questions by Maria Leik. I did all 642 questions. I score a 68%. I am pretty disappointed. I know that the questions had some errors and after reviewing the rationales to both wrong and right answers I feel a little bit better about it.
A few questions---
1.what is a good score on these questions?
2. If you do mind me asking, how did you do on her practice questions?
3. Did you feel that these questions were similar to the AANP exam?
Thank you for your help

Hi FNPDUKE,
1. I can't tell you what a good score is but Leik, Fitzgerald...etc would probably suggest scoring at least a couple of percentage points above the official pass score of 66%.
2. I did the Leik questions over a couple of months since it was not my primary source of review (I used Fitzgerald online, instead). I did 10 to 25 questions every day to every other day over a several months and scored 71% when I added up my score. But I found that I scored btw 76% and 80% for each block of questions I completed closer to my exam date.
3. I just took the AANP exam a couple days ago and passed. To answer your questions, I would say focus on the questions as a way to test your knowledge and not necessarily to anticipate how the questions will be phrased on the actual exam. I found the Leik book very helpful for content but the questions were not at all worded like on the actual exam. The exam is heavy on describing scenarios, so know how to identify certain diseases based on physical presentation and know the medications and their side/adverse effects.
Are you taking the AANP or ANCC? If you are taking the AANP, just don't waste your time on any policy type questions especially if you are struggling to find enough time to study.
I hope this helps.

FNP Duke thank you for posting this question and RN009 for answering. I almost posted the same question.
FNP Duke, have you already taken the AANP exam? Do you also believe the Leik helped prepare you? I am taking the AANP exam next week and am currently in the middle of doing the questions in the back of the book and then will move on to the APEA predictor exams and the familynpprep website for the rest of my testing this week. I'm currently scoring 74-76% answering the questions 150 at a time. I've learned so much from reading Leik and the APEA, notes a colleague gave me which covers topics by system that I read prior to reading each system review in the Leik book.
Thank you and hope everything worked well for you!!!
