Lehman college 2014 nursing program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, I'm currently a Lehman college student and I'm in my 3rd year and I'm really nervous about whether or not I'll be accepted in the nursing program. Most students around me have a high gpa of 3.7 and above and I only have a 3.4 at this moment and might get a 3.5 at the end of the fall semester and I'm really nervous about it being a problem. I received an A for all the required science and math courses so far. I'm currently doing my best to study for the hesi a2 but in the back of my mind I'm constantly worried about my gpa getting in the way of my future. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Is your overall GPA a 3.4? Or is your pre-req GPA a 3.4? If you have an A in all your science pre-req's (A&P 1, A&P 2, Chem 1, Chem 2, and Microbiology), that means you're applying to the program with a 4.0 and you'll get in. They don't look at your overall GPA...just your pre-req GPA. They also look at your HESI score and anything above an 85 is good (anything above a 90 is great). The HESI is not that difficult -- it's all basic questions. If the A&P and micro. is fresh in your head, you're good...the math part is easy.

If the pre-req GPA is a 3.4 and you bring it up to a 3.5, you'd still be on the bubble for admission. For fall 2013, the lowest GPA they accepted for the generic program was a 3.5 -- not sure about for fall 2014. Just make sure your HESI score is good and you'll be fine.

I never got a chance to say Thank you!!!! I was feeling stressed out about my GPA but hearing that they only look at your pre-req GPA I got hope again and started focusing more. I'm sorry If I'm now responding, I've been busy studying but even though I'm late I still wanted to say Thank you!! ^^
